A: You can attach the MTAPE-TB3-LTO8 drive to a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 Mac using the Apple Thunderbolt 3 adapter. The only requirement is that the Mac being running 10.12.6 or higher.

Q: 5. Two Questions1. Does this support daisy chain? that is can I connect this to my iMac and then connect my GPU box to the Sonnet? 2. Can I connect it to my iMac with Thunderbolt2 adapter?

A: Yes, it supports daisy chain, via a second Thunderbolt3 port on the back.I connect my MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt2 adapter. You lose performance, of course, but the functionality is all there.

Q: 6. My notebook has one "USB type C 3.1 Gen 1". it's compatible?

A: This is not compatible. USBC can only carry up to 20GB/s bandwidth while Thunderbolt 3 (over a USBC plug) carries 40 GB/s. You would need all of the 40 GB/s bandwidth offered only by a Thunderbolt 3 capable mother board to effectively utilize this device. Anything less than Thunderbolt 3 speeds for the interface will have undesirable results.

A: The Sonnet Echo Express SE I will accommodate an Elgato Cam Link Pro.

Q: 10. Would the DeckLink Quad 2 card work in this? It's a 8 lane pcie card.

A: That card is 6.3" and this enclosure can support up to 7.75" so it could work.

[Rackmount 1 RU] This half rack case is perfect for my wireless mic and IEM set up. Everything is safe and ready to go. I added the Odyssey 3U rack drawer to the bottom of the unit for all of my accessories. I still had plenty of room to velcro a power strip on top of the drawer, and store the cables to hook into our system. The pouch storage on each door is open for extra stuff.....I could easily fit my iPad and / or my page turn pedal....just haven’t decided. I am looking forward to the easy set up and tear down at the next gig! I should have done this long ago!! 5

[1] Our small video agency recently upgraded our LTO drive to LTO-8 and started buying these tapes for our footage and project archives. The significant capacity increase with only marginal increase to cost per tape saves our company a lot of time and money. So far the tapes have been very reliable and performed well during archive and restoring. We will be buying plenty more in the future. 5

[1] It took a while to find, but this case is perfect for our wireless In Ear Monitor system. The extra unit of rack space even allows for room to store our body packs ear buds and a couple of short XLR cables, so everything we need to run our ears is all in one box. Shipping was fast as well! 5

[Rackmount 1 RU] We purchased one of these units back in January, 2020 for use in a University audio/video recording setting. I believe we've already transferred over 150TB. There is a lot of relief when you know your master recordings are now backed up on something that lasts longer, is faster, closer and easier to deal with than stumbling and slow 'Cloud solutions' or having to shelve dozens of aging drives! We use YoYotta software with it. So far it has worked really well. The only issues we have had are with a LTO cart or two that had a problem and failed during the transfer process, not after. It is pretty darn fast and easy to hook up using thunderbolt. The Software is also great for adding metadata and sending emails to let you know it is finished once verified checks of the transferred data are complete. Because of 4K, file sizes are soaring ever higher, yet the mLogic LTO 8 is pretty darn fast and so good at 'retrieving' past recordings, I plan on buying one for my own personal use. As always, your mileage may vary. 5

[1] I've purchased dozens of these and haven't had any issues to date. Works as expected & reliable. I'm using a mLogic mTape LTO-7 drive. The only minor quibble I have is that they don't come with any sort of label/sticker. 5
