Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this mount for the mirrorless version of the lens or for the PL/EF version and this is just a replacement mount?

A: There are many other versions of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 lens. The adapter would be used with the X-mount, MFT mount, and E-Mount models that do not include the EF adapter.

Q: 2. Does it cover Super35?

A: No this lens would be designed for MTF sensor coverage, if you were looking for a Super35 equivalent lens, I would look at a 15mm Zero-D lens for the mount you need, or you could make use of this lens with a speed booster to give you proper coverage on a Super35 sensor.

Q: 3. Although it is not a recommended lens from DJI, wouldn't this theoretically fit on the zenmuse x5s sensor for the inspire 2?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (MFT Mount, Blue Flare) is too large to be balanced by the gimbal on the DJI Inspire 2.

Q: 4. Compatible with Panasonic GH1 camera?

A: Yes, the Loawa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens for Micro Four Thirds is compatible with the Panasonic GH1. Please be aware that this lens has a manual-focus design.

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with the OM-1 Mark II? Looking for fast-wide for landscape and astrophotography.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens (Micro Four Thirds) is compatible with the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 6. Is the lens weather sealed?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens (Micro Four Thirds) is not weather sealed.

Q: 7. hi! the weight of this lens?

A: 500g or 1.1 pounds

Q: 8. It uses 58mm filter, can you please suggest a clear protection filter without cause vignetting?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens (Micro Four Thirds) can use any 58mm UV filter design for wide-angle lenses to prevent vignetting in long exposures. Please review the link shown below for a compatible UV filter: https://bhpho.to/3Iovhsa

Q: 9. The description lists the lens hood as "built-in." Can this lens hood be removed? I'm assuming yes but wanted to be sure. Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D Lens for Micro Four Thirds includes a removable lens hood.

Q: 10. Does it only fit the 28mm? Does not fit in the 50mm or 35mm E mount version?

A: That is correct, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 Interchangeable Bayonet (ARRI PL) only works with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 anamorphic cine lens. The other two lenses have specific adapters just for them.

[0.135 lb] I chose this lens over the 7.5mm as I didn't want to go so wide. I found the 10mm is wide enough and with this lens being $100 cheaper than the 7.5mm along with it being an official M4/3 lens with camera communication, I felt it was a better value.

The image quality is great and I find it to be plenty sharp, even wide open. The sweet spot seems to be around F4.0. I also love the close focus distance which gives some nice macro images. There is some vignette at wide open just like the 7.5mm.

This is a great focal length for doing on camera gimbal shots. I feel that the 7.5mm is too wide and requires you to get much closer to your subject which leads to facial distortions. (big noses)

Be sure to turn off the in-body I.S. when walking with the lens hand held or you'll get the dreaded warbly background. I didn't notice too much warbly background with I.S. using the gimbal but I try to switch off I.S. to be safe. I.S. isn't needed with this wide of a lens on a gimbal.

[3.1 x 3 x 1.4"] I was first impressed by the sturdy make of the lens and it didn't take long to fall in love with the picture that comes from it. I actually purchased the 35 first for my fuji X-T3 (crop sensor/1.8) and loved it so much that I immediately ordered this one. at 1.8 crop it is probably the equivalent of a 19 or 20mm but this is actually quite good because the unused portion of the image would probably be the distorted part. The focus is smooth yet must be moved with intention which is great.

The small form factor of this series of lenses makes it great for moving fast and handheld so you can get a cinematic look without having to constantly be attached to rigging.

As you'll read from the description, the focus and iris rings are in common places on all the lenses for quick follow focus re-application when changing lenses.

I think I want one more in my set so will probably get the 75 as soon as I have a job that requires it :)

[0.135 lb] a little bit soft at 2.8 but other than that there is no better option for that price

[0.135 lb] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.

[0.135 lb] This is great to use with the Sony FS5, since it's made for that specific crop and mount. Very clean.

[3.1 x 3 x 1.4"] I bought one of these with the electronic contacts to transfer data to my Olympus bodies. It's still manual focus, but focus peaking works with mine so focusing is effortless.

Sharpness was a delightful surprise. Of course it's not spectacular in the extreme corners at f/2. But it's useable! And by f/2.8 it's very good. Optimum is around f/4 (actually a little better than my Panasonic 8-18).

If you are able to look at uncorrected files, you'll see Laowa's claim of zero distortion is pretty close to true. And not having to do all that distortion correction probably helps the edges and corners a lot. I did try two copies, and one was better than the other, but both were really good. Don't know anything about video but if you want an ultra wide for stills, I reccomend this lens.

[0.135 lb] I use this lens on my Sony a6000 and my FS7 and it looks great. It’s made of metal and a 2.8 cine lens. I’ve become a big fan of these SLR Magic microprime lenses and now have several of them.

[3.1 x 3 x 1.4"] I have the Laowa 10mm which is quite sharp and comes close to the claimed zero distortion, so I was curious about the 6mm. I was skeptical of the YouTube reviews where the guy raves it's sharp as a saber! Only one review, Photoblograper, said the lens was soft in the corners, which would not be suprising for a 6mm.

So...is it sharper than a ninja sword or mush in the corners? To my amazement, it's pretty sharp wide open, totally usable even in the exteme corners--IF--you don't mind the expected loss of corner illumination, aka vignetting. Optimal sharpness seems to be around f/2.8 but for even illumination in the corners, I'd use f/4 or smaller. I happen to like darker corners and often darken them in Lightroom, but that's what I was taught in the Ansel Adams books so maybe that's no longer in fashion.

I need to repeat the test, but it seems image quality dips after f/4, then returns at f/8. Unusual. Zero distorton? No, but pretty close. If you're aware of the incredibly high barrel distortion in most digital camera ultra-wide lenses, you'll realize how impressive it is to get close to zero at 6mm (equivalent to 12mm on full frame).

In short (no pun intended) here's another reason to like m43. A tiny, reasonably priced ultra-wide. Even if you don't use it every day, it won't be a hassle to have with you, just in case.
