Reissuing a classic patented design for its 65th anniversary, CAD has drawn upon this historic design to release the A77Bk, a large-diaphragm dynamic side-address microphone operating in a supercardioid pattern. It is capable of capturing frequencies between 30 Hz and 15 kHz, and can handle sound pressure levels of 150 dB and more. Its vintage design has been given a few updates—a PowerGap high gauss magnet and a TrueFlex diaphragm—in order to bring a modern, articulate profile to the original construction. The A77Bk is a faithful recreation of the classic Astatic A77, with the same timeless style of the original, except for an elegant midnight black finish. CAD chose to update the circuitry for it's 65th anniversary, including a high gauss neodymium magnet and a TrueFlex diaphragm. The update brings modern performance and results in a hot and articulate acoustic profile.

[Solid-State] First impressions couldn't be better. I'm not gonna say I'm some sort of microphone expert or anything but right out of the box this mic sounds good without any tinkering with settings or anything I put it on direct monitor through my speakers my voice sounded so identical to the real thing that it was actually kinda scary in all seriousness I'm very happy with my purchase and I will use this mic for years to come for many applications whether it be for voice overs or vocals I'm sure this mic with serve me well. 5

[Supercardioid] The M-179 doesn't cost much at all for a microphone, but nothing about what you get for a little over $ is cheap: a solid, hard plastic case with protective foam, shockmount and regular mount, and a no-nonsense microphone. The M-179 will get the job done for anything percussion, and its variable pattern gives you flexibility, especially if you get two like I did! :)B&H gives you good deals, fast shipping, and reliable service. If you need a inexpensive workhorse condenser, snag one of these now! 5

[Black] All jokes aside (which is a very true and accurate statement), this microphone really did put a smile on my face. It didn't need EQ or compression for it to accurately portray the sounds I put in front of it. I bought a pair of these and set one up in front of my guitar and one for my vocal and played a live song that I tracked into pro tools. I couldn't have been happier with the results. Great product and an even better one for the price! 5

[Supercardioid] I love this mic for both male and female spoken word and dynamic vocals. It is darker than its predecessor, but this fits what people want nowadays. It competes beautifully with my Neumann clones, and improves on them with a very well constructed shock mount and a hypercardioid pattern. These two features make it a no-brained for isolation booths - room rejection, almost to risk of mic bumps ruining a take. It's also a great-looking mic. CAD has been making this series for a couple of generations, and they continue to have a winner. Highly recommended. 5

[1.68 lb] A very multi-purpose(versatile) microphone! The powerful and beautiful sound definition! I ve got three examples and I use it for voice(vote), accordion, Drums! [Supercardioid] The quality of this large diaphragm mic's sound is sensitive, crisp, and clear. The response is well balanced. But the feature that stands out is the ability to select a pickup pattern. We use these in live bluegrass band shows, in the old '30s style where we all crowd around a single mic stand. The wide cardioid pattern is perfect for this. I also use several of these for recording. Versatile, well worth the money. 5

[Side Address] I own 3 of these mics, as well as Shure SM81s, AT4050s and Senheisser Mk 4s. If you want extremely quite, low distortion, low coloration mic,s at a low cost, these mics are an excellent buy. I've owned mine for about 10 years and they have been flawless. They are great for drums, acoustic guitars, orchestral recording, etc. These are accurate mics, without romantic colorations. 5
