I usually max out my electronic devices when I can in order to have it last as long as possible in between replacements/upgrades, but after really thinking about what I'd be using it for, this size is perfect for me. I'm not a pro user - I have a laptop and desktop for heavy work use. This is primarily used for reading, emailing, drawing up overhead plans for film and photoshoots, and a few other film apps. Also serves as a media machine to check color consistency, as well as an entertainment device that isn't too massive to travel with. Battery life is pretty short would be my only complaint, usually gets low on battery if using all day. Otherwise, if you are in my situation where it's not your main work tool but a supplement for certain tasks, this is the perfect companion in between your phone and computer.

[2-Year ] Bought this for my sister. It is compact enough to fit in a purse, but large enough to enjoy a movie on. The picture quality is amazing as is the sound. She is very happy with her entertainment machine.

[Extended] A great iPad, this mini has replaced my 2019 iPad Air as my go-to device. While a slightly bigger screen might be nice, I really like the small size and light weight for hand-held use; hours per day. I'm an old guy and must admit that some text on screen is pretty small. But I use a good pair of reading glasses and that's not much of an issue. Also not an issue...the so-called jelly scrolling. If I really look for it, I can notice the effect, but in normal use I just don't see it.

[Extended] I have used a kindle for reading since they were released and have always been a fan of this device until now. No question the kindle is top drawer for reading with it's e ink display. My problem is once you accumulate a large library it is frustrating to wade thru your library to find the next book to read. The collections utility helps but not enough to make it efficient. I started using my iPad kindle app to stage the book I wanted to read on top so when I used my kindle oasis it was there. When the new iPad mini came out I researched using it for reading and while many reviewers had the same idea the kindle fanboys insisted there was no real comparison. I decided to try it for myself and am very pleased with the result. By turning down the brightness and utilizing the screen options it is a pleasure to read on. I have not been effected by the blue light nor experinced eye strain. NOTE I don't read outside in bright sunlight so the screen reflection as noted by the fanboys does not impact me. Another plus is when I travel instead of carrying my iPad pro and a kindle the iPad mini serves both needs. Another problem noted was battery life. My kindle oasis was about 14 months old yet battery only lasted me around 11 hours without wifi activated. So far the mini is about the same if I only use it for reading and email. Naturally if I watch movies or surf the net for long periods it is less. The advantage of having one device I can read books, magazines, illustrated novels or listen to audible books is great. The speakers on the mini are good and the retina screen is the best I have seen. Sure it costs more but is worth it at least for me.

[Extended] I've always loved the size of the iPad mini since buying the original in 2012. Over the years I've made due as apps, features, and apple support outpaced my original iPad mini which by default became a nice e-reader. Updating to the 6th generation revealed an amazing tool - everything i needed in a portable device which now integrates seamlessly with my desktop Mac and my iPhone.
