Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use an EF to MFT adapter to mount the EF version of these lenses on the Blackmagic Pocket 4k?

A: Yes, you should be able to adapt the lenses of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare) to your Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema camera 4K using an EF to MFT lens adapter.

Q: 2. Will this enable an MFT-mount Nanomorph to fit on an EF-mount camera?

A: When using the Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 Lens the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) will allow the lens to mount to Canon EF mount cameras.

Q: 3. Is the focal length the full-frame equivalent on S35?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (Nikon Z, Silver Flare) would provide a 56mm view on S35 sensors. The lens is not full frame and can not be used with full frame sensors. There is a 1.6x magnification or Crop on S35 sensor sizes. This magnification stays the same if the lens is full frame or S35.

Q: 4. Will this lens work in EF mount with the Metabones Ultra .71x Speedbooster?

A: No, this has been untested and we can not determine the implications when mounting on the Metabones speed booster when working with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm.

Q: 5. Hello the front of this lenses have tation or are non rotate front? i mean to attach filter like a ND variable

A: The front of the lenses of the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Anamorphic Prime 5-Lens Kit (Micro Four Thirds, Blue Flare) do not rotate and have filter threads to allow the attachment of screw on filters such as a variable ND filter.

Q: 6. We this lens work with the DJI Ronin 4D camera??

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm T2.4 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (DJI DL, Blue Flare) is designed to specifically work with the DJI DL mount, which is the native mount on the DJI Ronin 4D 4-Axis Cinema Camera. The camera needs to be set in the super 35 mode to not encounter vignetting.

Q: 7. Does the set come with a case?

A: No, A case is not included with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle.

Q: 8. When use with a full frame like the R5C, do we still benefit from the full size of the sensor or do we need to crop in ?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle could work if the R5C is set to S35 cropped sensor mode. The lenses would not work when the sensor is in full frame mode.

Q: 9. Will the EF version work if I use an EF to Sony E mount adapter on my A7s3?

A: Although, an EF to E-mount adapter would work for mounting the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime 3-Lens Bundle (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Silver Flare), when equipped with their EF mounts, to a Sony A7S III, these lenses are Super 35mm sensors and for using with the A7S III, you would need to crop the sensor to a 1080p mode to avoid vignetting.

Q: 10. Does this have focus tab far faster focusing

A: The Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2 Lens does not have a focus tab.

[0.19 lb] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.

[0.19 lb] The Laowa 10mm F4 is a great little lens. Well built, pretty sharp, very well corrected for distortion, and impressively tiny. You could complain about the rather pronounced vignetting at wide apertures, or the lack of critical sharpness in the extreme corners, these are real issues. Or you could marvel at how absolutely tiny this lens is, how little distortion it has, how well built it is, how useful for creative composition it's close focus capabilities are, and how you didn't have to spend a lot of money to get such a handy ultra-wide on your APSc camera (Fuji-X in my case). A great tool that's easy to keep with you at all times and easy to appreciate despite its minor failings.

[Leica L] I am truly amazed by the images these lenses can produce for the price and size! If you are looking for lenses that don't look sterile and have some character to them without having to sell all your possessions to afford them, then these are absolutely the lenses for you!

[0.19 lb] Use it for most of my work, great wide angle. Great light controls on the lens, easy to work with.

[0.19 lb] First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation.

Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light).

I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it.

However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic.

Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.

[0.19 lb] Great value for the price. The aesthetics of the images achieved are beautiful. It would be nice to have a detailed manufacturer's video of the mount change from PL to EF.

[0.19 lb] If you're on the fence about Laowa lenses, I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. As a person who normally buys strictly manufacturer lenses, Laowa is right on par with them and the Sharpness from this lens is unbelievable!

[Leica L] This lens is surprisingly sharp and very tiny. Color rendering is great, as is 3D pop. The only downsides are a thin focus ring (take care to keep your fingers out of the shot), and fairly substantial vignetting (which I actually like, as it provides sone character to the images, but easily fixed in Lightroom). Someone here said it was difficult to focus — but that problem is also easily solved. Just activate focus in peaking in your camera’s viewfinder. The best $300 I have ever spent on a camera lens. So much fun.

[Leica L] Researched this lens for a while before I decided to pull the trigger.
I'm very glad I did. It's built very well, with no defects or issues out of the box. I don't usually shoot in in-climate weather, so weatherproofing isn't vital to me. It is a moody lens with a great deal of vignetting. I like that look and can find a million ways to be creative using it, so it's nice I don't have to deal with that too often in correcting it. It's super crispy and definitely looks great on all of my Fuji X-mount cameras. I especially like the look, feel, and image capture of the X-Pro 3 paired with this little lens. It's not a super easy lens to just pull out and shoot with, but it is a super clear and lightweight lens to use when you are feeling creative with your photography.
