Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, what are the dimensions of the box that this comes in? Thanks

A: Hi, the Box Dimensions would be as follows 20 x 16 x 14.

Q: 2. Does it require phantom power?

A: The PreSonus PD-70 does not require phantom power.

Q: 3. Can you record and monitor thru the head set at the same time?

A: Yes -the adapter is designed to monitor the audio feed from the microphone.

Q: 4. What is this?

A: A handheld mic

Q: 5. What is the audio pickup range for this mic?

A: Hi Michaela, We don't have an exact number for that, but the sensitivity can be adjusted to pick up sources further away if needed.

Q: 6. What color is the finish? It looks like "rose gold" in the photos. I don't like "rose gold " for use on stage.

A: The color of the CAD A77 Supercardioid Large Diaphragm Dynamic Microphone, which is discontinued, could be best described as "bronze."

Q: 7. Can I connect my AT2005USB to my iPhone 11?

A: Yes, you can connect the Audio-Technica AT2005USB Microphone using the Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter (B&H # APMK0W2AMA). You can connect the USB cable to one side and there is an additional Lightning port that can be used to charge the phone while using the mic.

Q: 8. How does this microphone perform in loud environments?

A: It's a omnidirectional microphone, so it will pick up some background noise. However as long as the subject speaks into the microphone it will sound clear. For less background noise I would recommend looking into a cardioid handheld microphone.

Q: 9. We cannot get this to work on our Mac laptop. They can hear us but we can't hear them once it's plugged in...?

A: Eject the USB microphone from the computer desktop. Unplug it from the computer, Shut down the computer and then restart it after 30 seconds or so. Then plug the micrphone back in. If this does not provide remedy, please contact our Customer Service department: 800.221.5743 cs@bhphotovideo.com

[Mono] As a voiceover artist w/a home studio, I'm always looking for budget mics to recommend to colleagues who want to get their foot in the door. At full price, the E40 is wonderful-sounding budget condenser, with less self-noise and a more pleasant voicing than competitors like the Audio-Technica AT2020 or the AKG P100. The only $100 mic I can think of that beats it is CAD's own Equitek E100sx, which would be the preferable mic to grab if they're both the same price. But when on sale (I grabbed mine at $30) the E40 is an absolute steal.

[Cardioid] I bought this mic on a whim. I have a large mic collection and find Cad mics hit or miss. They make some dull sounding entry level mics and some incredible sounding high end microphones. One thing: their mics tend to be incredibly tough. I'm a huge fan of the equitek line, so I figured I'd see what this mic was all about since it looks pretty cool. This mic is great, especially for the price. It sounds great on vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar and bass cabs, and piano. I briefly tried it out as a room mic for drums but found the top end a bit too harsh (horrible zbt cymbals), but I didn't get a chance to experiment much with placement, nor with switching cymbals out. I used the mic on a recent recording session I did for a metal band. Paired with a dynamic mic on a 2x15 bass cab about a foot away from the speaker, the cad e40 captured an absolutely killer bass sound. Punchy with just enough grit, and incredibly detailed sounding. It might be my go to mic for 15 inch speakers from now on.

[3 lb] So I got this on a whim since it was on sale. I thought it couldn't possibly be that good, right?

Boy, was I wrong.

With a near-flat response and just a touch of sibilant brightness in the trebles, you can throw these at just about everything and they'll get the job done. HPF helps clean up the signal, and drummers will appreciate the sensitivity toggle. This mic was so good that when it went on sale again, I got a second one!

Supercardioid pattern may take some getting used to, though.

[3 lb] There are no issues on my end whatsoever. The audio quality is crisp and clear, the boom arm and attachments are easy to set up, and the headphones are comfortable.

I'd definitely recommend betting this starter kit for anyone interested in starting a podcast. It even has both USB but XLR capability.

[Bus Power] I've had a couple of condenser mics and I like this one the most. Right out the box it sounds good! The couple of buttons on the mic are convenient for on the fly adjustments. It's extremely good at blocking out unwanted noise.

If you've been using a cheap condenser or headset mic, and are considering an easy upgrade, this is a solid choice.

[Cardioid] I already had this mic's big brother, the CADE100SX. So why bother with the little brother? Short answer: the E40 presents a brighter, more modern, and you-are-there tuning. The E100SX is more of a broadcaster tuning similar to a darker mic like a SM-7B. The E40 still retains a lot of the awesome presence of its bigger brother though and that's ultimately what I was looking for. Love the design of these mics too -- superb looking and superb sounding!
