This 39mm B+W MRC-Nano Circular Polarizer Filter 39mmfrom B+W MRC-Nano Circular Polarizer Filter 39mmhelps reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from nonmetallic surfaces. Ambient light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges this light perpendicularly to the reflected light, resulting in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from nonmetallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

B+W's Master filter line products are equipped with the exclusive MRC nano premium coating technology. This high-quality broadband coating is applied on both sides and enhances the optical imaging properties to achieve a uniform and increased transmittance across the entire light spectrum, with minimal physically induced remaining reflection. The nano all-round protection on the filter glass ensures increased scratch resistance and extremely easy and fast cleaning.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference with the old one B+W 77mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter? Is it similar?

A: The B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (72mm) has improved coatings and better light transmission than the B+W 77mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter.

Q: 2. What is the filter factor of this filter? One stop or more?

A: B+W does not publicly publish this information in any of their data sheets, but independent testing yielded a loss of approximately 1.5-stops of light when using the B+W high-transmission MRC-Nano Master CPLs.

Q: 3. what is the difference between BH #BWCPHTM77 • MFR #66-1101634 and BH #BWCPHTM5077 • MFR #66-1108017 ?

A: The 2 filters are exactly the same except the BWCPHTM5077 is a limited edition that says "B&H Photo. Limited Edition. 50th Anniversary. 1973 - 2023.

Q: 4. Will this allow for a lens cap?

A: Yes, this B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (82mm) has front threads to allow for the use of a lens cap.

Q: 5. Does this filter work in the drop in filter holder on the Nikon Z 600mm f/4 VR TC S lens?

A: We are sorry. As of Jan '24, we don't have the Nikon NIKKOR Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S Lens (Nikon Z) in our store display so we are not able to test if the B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (46mm) is compatible.

Q: 6. How many stops of light transmission are lost by this filter?

A: The light lose on the B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter is 1-1.5 f/stops.

Q: 7. What is the difference between this and a Kaesemann polarizer? B&H doesn't sell Kaesemann in 62mm, but this costs the same.

A: The Kaesemann series filters are currently being phased out. We have no 62mm size left and soon other sizes will be gone too. The Master series has the same optical quality at the prior Kaesemann series but they added a better grip due to optimized filter ring knurling and it is grease-free for easy rotation.

Q: 8. WILL THIS FILTER WORK ON A LEICA 28MM-70MM R LENS?

A: Yes the B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (60mm) should fit the Leica 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 Vario-Elmar-R lens

Q: 9. Is this filter stackable?

A: Yes, you can stack B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter with another filter, but stacking rotating filters may be hard to separate when taking off the lens, consider getting https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1407950-REG/sensei_48_55mm_rubberized_filter_wrench.html Rubberized Filter Wrench of appropriate size.

Q: 10. Does this come with a plastic case or only the pouch that's pictured?

A: Unit comes in a filter storage pouch and is packaged in a black cardboard case.

[Glass] Bought this for my Fuji and Voightlander lenses. Works well. A bit pricey but it's B+W quality so I'm okay with that.

[Glass] Not all filters are created equal. This one has a wonderful antireflection coating and a fine mount. These days, you don't need lots of filters. Splurge on a good one.

[39 mm] The filter fits the lens fine. It performs the polarizing function, deepening blue sky efficiently. I haven't tried it on reducing reflections yet but I would imagine it does a good job on that too.

[Glass] It's well constructed and durable. I use it frequently when shooting outdoors. I would recommend purchasing a 39mm stack cap to protect this and any other 39mm filters.

[Glass] Been using B+W for more than 20 years now. Never been screwed by them. Yes, its more expensive but quality is the best. minimal color cast, good construction. Over the years they've kept improving the tech on them, like the coating and nano stuff. All my filter is B+W. If you are a working pro, this is the go-to filter.

[Glass] I've used polarizers of the 77mm to 82mm variety and never had thoughts that a filter affixed to such a small thread would be as effective, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the impact of the 39mm version was as immediately apparent as those of the larger radii. Expensive, but well worth the price of admission!

[39 mm] I recently used this filter on a cruise trip through Canada and the N.E. U.S. This filter helped me tremendously when in sunny areas and ocean pictures. It's easy to use, the variability lends additional creativity to your pictures, and it's easy to mount.
