This M.2 2x4 PCIe card allows you to install up to two of your own double-sided M.2 NVMe solid-state drives, for a total of 16TB, into a single PCIe 3.0 x8 slot.

The PCIe 3.0 x8 host bus interface provides four lanes of bandwidth to the installed SSDs for maximum performance. Sustained data transfer speeds can reach up to 6600 MB/s in RAID 0 mode and 3400 MB/s from individual SSDs.

Connected solid-state drives may be put into RAID 0 or 1 configuration.

This PCIe x8 adapter includes both low-profile and full-height brackets, allowing it to be installed into most computer systems and compatible enclosures.

[Yes, RAID 0/1] I have installed this with four PNY Technologies CS2130 2TB M.2 NVMe SSDs. I think the speed is limited by the bus since the speed of the stripe is over 6GB/s and the individual speed was nearly 3GB/s. This configuration gives me a very fast 8TB drive to use as a scratch disk, speeding up the loading and saving of video and other large projects. 5

[0.595 lb] I replaced a Ableconn card that had two NVME installed but did not have a provision for a heat sink and so the cards failed after a little more than one year. The Sonnet provides for each NVME to be independently accesses and in parallel with multiple ones installed on the card and the data throughput was dramatically higher than with the Ableconn card. The Sonnet has a very large heat sink and uses a special pad that is adhesive and also helps with heat transfer from the M.2 module to the aluminum heat sink. This should greatly extend the life of the modules. 5

[Yes, RAID 0/1] I've been using the Sonnet m.2 PCIe SSD for over a year now in my 2019 Mac Pro 7,1 and it was worked flawlessly. R/W is crazy fast. No issues. Nice to have the fast and upgradeable SSD for After Effects and current projects. 5

[0.595 lb] The board is very well designed to support maximum read and write rates for the M.2 memory modules. It took a little bit of time to install as the M.2 modules are sandwiched between two layers of heat sink material to keep the modules from overheating and throttling back. Once installed the OS detected the new modules and then I used Widows Disk Management to format the modules and then create a RAID1 partition with the two modules mirrored. Lots of online support options for the computer novice to integrate the new memory modules or to set up the RAID level desired. 5

[Yes, RAID 0/1] Added 4 Samsung m.2 ssd cards to this and blazing fast under raid 0 even via the old PCIe 3 connection. The card will slightly bend when you put on all the thermo pads and tighten the heat sink but otherwise perfect. No sound and heat managed very well. 5
