[3.09 lb] Bought this and its matching rx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

[3.09 lb] There's so many protocols to work with in this little box, and decodes practically anything thrown at it.

It's not an entry level unit but it's very very good and VITEC keeps improving it

[3.09 lb] This Camcorder exceeds all my expectations. I came from the Sony PXW-Z190 and I do miss the 25X optical zoom but now I have more clarity and 4K is awesome. The recording in HEVC files makes the files half the size of the regular .264 or MPEG files with double the quality. The 30X zoom is very usable. The slow motion is buttery smooth. The U30 battery that comes with it won’t give you all day recording, so get the U60 for that. The Canon L glass shows clear and precise. I haven’t tested low light yet, but the groups and forums on Facebook have tested and uploaded clips that say its a winner in that regard as well. The biggest compliment is the use of SD cards...Initially I was leary about getting this camcorder because FCPX couldn’t read the HEVC files...6 months later, FCPX can read the files and edit them. Just be sure you have a fairly newer MacBook Pro because I have two, one I bought in 2014 and the newer one I bought in 2017...I recorded two different church services and loaded each on the different laptops. The newer 2017 model processed the files with no problem, but the older 2014 would load in FCPX but that’s it. So I took a clip 30 seconds long, updated my software, updated FCPX and tried, still no processing or saving the clip...So now I will be getting a new MacBook Pro to make sure I have a New Laptop that I know should work and also a backup in my 2017...Oh and Canon just released a new firmware for the XF705 with some nice improvements and fixed some problems people were experiencing...I didn’t have any problems but then again I’ve only had it two weeks...It’s not cheap but if you got about 8000 laying around go for it...

[HDMI/SDI] These units are ideal for instant connect up and they work. You can customise the bit rate and it keeps the video smooth. One TX can feed many RX.

[3.09 lb] This has everything I wanted in a pick up and shoot, quality camera. The image stabilization when zoomed all the way in is great. The autofocus is excellent. Being able to record in Log is great too.

[HDMI/SDI] The Canon XF Plugin 3.4.1 for Avid Media Access [macOS] was released last week and after installing, I’ve been using AVID Media Composer to AMA link to the HEVC .265 UHD files from the XF705 and transcoding them to DNxHR HQX successfully. I’m not a tech analyst, but everything finally looks good to me. I’m just starting to use the camera, but the combination of the color and the above average lens, makes this camcorder a step above the others.

[HDMI/SDI] I purchased a XF705 from B&H approximately 7 months ago. I have been waiting patiently for a FCPX upgrade to allow the H.265 files to be ingested to FCPX. Good News...with the recent upgrade to FCPX, ver 10.4.7, I can import the XF705 H.265 files directly into FCPX. I am running macOS Mojave, ver 10.14.6. My iMac computer was manufactured in late 2015. I have to use proxy files for editing, otherwise my computer hangs up.
