Each leg guard has a included adhesive that attaches the foam to the leg so it will not shift. Cover is quality material perfect fit. [Foam, Neoprene] Like the velcro instead of camo tape or slip overs, can easily remove, if you don't need the camo, or want to change colors, or course, protects your tripod investment from dinges and scratches, which will always affect the resell price.

[Foam, Neoprene] Carrying my tripod has become much easier and more comfortable because of the tripod legs that cover the metal of the tripod. The legs are not as prone to scratching as well, thus insuring the quality of the tripod.

[Foam, Neoprene] I was concerned when I bought a Gitzo 3542L tripod, that it did not come with these protectors. I always have left my camera and lens on my lighter travel tripod and carry the assembly on my shoulder while hiking; that tripod came with foam covers on each leg.So I bought these for the bigger and heavier Gitzo. They fit perfectly to the length of the upper leg of this tripod, they have a length-wise strip of mildly-adhesive glue on the inside, much like that of a Post-It note, that will keep the protector from rotating once held by the Velcro strip. The foam material is more rubbery than pipe coating, with more give for comfort; the Lycra on the outside is strong and well-stitched. The cover also has vertical bands on the inside to hold it to the foam.I don't really notice the weight difference on my shoulder between my 2 lb tripod and these 4 lb sticks because of the protectors, they work very well.Don't get the other LegCoats that are not cut for a specific tripod, they're much thinner in thickness and don't offer much padding. Even the Gitzo brand protectors are made from this same lighter-weight Neoprene material.I laughed when I read in another review how someone felt they could substiture pipe insulators for these protectors. These are well made and the foam is much different from that used on pipes. And use what, Gaffer's tape to hold them on, to a $1000 tripod?They do, however, make the legs thicker and bulkier so that the standard Gitzo 3 series bag is too small in diameter for them. The solution is the great number of larger-diameter and less expensive bags available on the B&H site.

[Touch Fastener] Though these would be an extravagance, but found them to be really comfortable on the hands when moving the tripod! Looks awesome on the tripod also. Got one for my monopod too! HIGHLY recommend!
