It can input to your computer and output directly to a monitor from HDMI which works pretty well. We made the assumption when we purchased this card based on the description that it could capture dual inputs and were disappointed. We contacted Black Magic and they agreed that the B&H description was misleading. However, it is still a great card!

I currently have their Miniconverter and that only does 4k DCI to 2k DCI and then crops off the sides of the 2K DCI image to display it at 1080p. Does this do the same and crop off the sides when going from 4k DCI to 1080p? Or will it give you the full width of the 4K DCI frame on a 1080p screen?

A: No, the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G Capture & Playback Card can only down convert 4K UHD to 1080p HD and output a full image. It does not support 4K DCI to 1080p HD down convert. .

A: Yes, but the capture express encoding engine is fairly cpu intensive plus the preview may lag the machine. It didn't work that well with a 16core/32thread machine.
