Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this scanner scan 120 size film cut into strips of 4 frames each? I read somewhere that the holder for this size film could hold strips of 3 frames only. What happens if I need to scan strips of 4 frames each?

A: Yes, i'm sorry but this scanner only scans 3 frames of 120 film at a time.

Q: 2. What do they mean by 6400 x 9600 dpi? Are the pixels not square? Or do they mean that ouput is actually 6400 pixels by 9600 pixels, as opposed to 6400 x 9600 dpi (dots per inch)? And why to do the specs indicate maximum resolution of 12,800 dpi x 12,800 dpi in one place and maximum resolution of 6,400 by 9,600 dpi in another?

A: The optical resolution of the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner is 6400 dpi. This is the optical resolution of the scanning sensor. As the scanner moves across the page it can move in less than 1 dpi step increments, this is how it gets a higher resolution in one direction, hence the 6400 x 9600 dpi. The 12800 x 12800 dpi is the maximum interpolated resolution and not achieved optically.

Q: 3. Does this work on a Mac Computer using macOS Monterey 13.3?

A: Yes, Silverfast SE9 lists Mac OS 10.13 as the minimum OS needed to work on a Mac.

Q: 4. Will the scanner work with 127 negatives?

A: 127 format film is smaller than 120 film. The 120 holder it comes with is larger but you should be able to put your 127mm film in that holder to scan. But you might need to cut the film in to smaller strips.

Q: 5. is adobe elements included?

A: This scanner does not come with Adobe Elements.

Q: 6. which scanner models are good for scanning objects?

A: A scanner is not for scanning objects, you are better off using a camera.

Q: 7. what is the biggest print size I can get out of this scanner with a 35mm film neg?

A: I am going to assume you are concerned with the quality of the image as you try to make it larger. The scanner will allow you to scan the film negative at its original size (35mm). The quality of the image when it is processed and enlarged with photo editing software will be dependent on the quality of the original negative and the resolution that you use to scan the negative. The scanner's (Epson Scan) software allows you select very high resolutions to help with this issue. If you are not familiar with image resolution and how to process images for good print quality, I suggest you study some resources on the topic to gain a better understanding of how this works. This scanner is a good quality desktop scanner and is capable of producing very good scans. Certainly good enough for most photo reproduction projects. The maximum size of the image is really just limited by the photo printer, not the scanner.

Q: 8. Will this scanner, scan slides full frame? We have tried other brands and found they crop a little from all sides. If this doesn't scan the full frame, can you recommend a model that does?Thank you.

A: The V600 does have the ability to scan 35mm slides full-frame.

Q: 9. Is it possible to do wet scans on the V600?

A: No', i'm sorry, there isn't a wet scan adapter for the V600. Epson does make one for the V700. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2w4oVXb

Q: 10. Will it scan APS film negatives if they are removed from the cannister?

A: This scanner can scan APS film, but would not have a dedicated holder for it.

[Download] If you used the Epson Software, you are getting something you are familiar with. Probably if you used ANY software....

Except,, it's RIDICULOUSLY higher end.

Kinda like a Yugo and a Ferrari... the Yugo is fine,, does what you need. Same result,, you get where you are going. BUT, if you want to REALLY enjoy the ride.....

This program PERFORMS at a much higher level. Pictures, slides, negatives,, all selectable from the menu system. Tell it what you have,, pick an output size and quality, then let Silver Fast do the work.

[Download] I have over a thousand slides from the 70s and 80s that I wanted to bring into this generation. The V600 has done an excellent job of providing the key technical piece of that equation. It warms up fast and gives me ample choices. Because I chose very high resolution images it takes about 10 minutes per set of 4 slides. My only annoyance is that one setting (not to trim) defaults to a place I would like to change. I have not figured out how to change that.

[Download] It is decently fast and straight forward to use. Quality of scans seem perfect for the use I need. I cannot do a contact sheet scan to see previews.

[Download] Silverfast, when paired with Epson perfection scanners, is the right tool for a great job. I am working with hundreds of negatives that are nearly a century old yet Silverfast SE has the ability to make (and correct) excellent prints from each neg. Silverfast has a software that fits your scanner.

[Download] I've only had this a week or so, but on first attempts the colors scan nice and true. My problem is that it has so many features I think I can get a great deal more out of it -- whenever I have time to sit down and get to know it better. But in the meantime, it's very easy to use even without knowing all the features, and I'm very pleased with it so far.

[Download] Using scanner for old photogaphs. I don't want to print them, merely save to computer and flash drives for my kids. Set-up was quick. Scans beautifully. I'm not in a hurry -- looking for quality scan not speed and this seems to be the scanner for that. Very pleased.
