Q: 1. Can this be used to send and receive 4 HD signals over a single SRT stream? (4 HD in - Muxer - srt encoder - srt decoder - demuxer - 4 HD out)

A: The AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer is a format converter however it is not an encoder that would send a streaming (SRT) signal. You would need to add encoders to the outputs. More info - https://www.aja.com/products/12gm

Q: 2. can this be configured as a 4x4 distro amp to simiply pass through each signal in a 4x camera setup to extend max cable length?

A: The AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer would be a very expensive distribution box. Instead use the Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI Distribution, for $165.00.

Q: 3. When using the converter to output analog, will the analog audio output to the XLR connections and the RCA connections at the same time? Thank you!

Q: 4. Can you add a delay to the audio to match/sync to video latency that may be present?

A: There really isn't a need for an audio delay, as the unit has a fairly powerful reclocking option.

Q: 5. Can this unit be used to adjust the audio volume or do you need to attach an audio mixer for that functionality?

A: There are no audio level controls. Audio stays in the embedded data untouched.

Q: 6. Can I quickly switch input selection from the front panel? In other words if I have one feed into sdi 1 and another feed into sdi2 can I flip them. I know it's not a switcher

A: This converter is a single input device. Multiple inputs are present for signals that may need multiple connections to function.

Q: 7. Can this embed audio from AES/EBU into SDI signal?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Would this allow the SDI output from the Blackmagic talkback converter to interface over XLR to other intercom systems?

A: You can extract the Talkback audio in SDI 15/16 with this converter.

Q: 9. Does this unit perform time base corrections (TBC) or 3D comb filtering on the incoming analog signals?

A: No. There is no TBC or corrections on the conversion.

Q: 10. Is the "SDI loop out" completely clean to feed a separate down converter to 1080?

A: I’m pretty sure it is. But I think you might want to look at a Decimator MD-HX. It has scaling and dual outputs.

[1 RU] Very please with these sturdy, flexible, short cables. Zero cable memory and perfect to connect cameras that are close to my setup. Helpful for monitors and other gear too - when you don't want these thick, stiff cables all over the place. Rated much higher than I currently need, so future proofing as well. 5

[Steel] I've always really liked these cables since I started using them for HDMI a bit ago. Now that we've moved into a RED Komodo package and Vaxis Storm 2000 TX/RX my HDMIs have been sadly sitting in the case. The second I saw that these were in pre order I grabbed a few! Connection is solid, barrel is just the right length, and the wire itself is that classic thin ZILR cable we've grown to love on the ronin/movi pro. Highly recommend for gimbal ops and anyone just wanting a clean, worry free 12g sdi solution. 5
