Designed for editing, mixing, and critical listening, the silver Neumann NDH 30 Open-Back Studio Headphones Silveroffer a calibrated studio loudspeaker setup in the form of a portable headphone. The open-back circumaural fit construction ensures reference-class sound with maximum comfort. The headphones make use of 38mm drivers, which work as acoustic dipoles, allowing for highly refined sound characteristics to unfold optimally. One can expect an extremely fast transient response, dry bass, uncolored mids, and transparent highs. In other words, the NDH 30 are devoid of distortion and coloration. They provide a frequency response of 12 Hz to 34 kHz.

The NDH 30's high-quality construction of spring steel and aluminum ensure tight tolerances for consistency. The headphones are foldable, which help while on-the-go. The NDH 30 includes a detachable, internally balanced cable that's designed to minimize crosstalk while increasing spatial resolution. The NDH 30 includes a 1/4" adapter and a soft cloth carrying pouch.

  • Outstanding linearity and transient response
  • High spatial resolution
  • Sound and mix compatibility with Neumann KH-Line speakers
  • High long-term comfort
  • Internally balanced cable (detachable)
  • Foldable for easy transport

  • The NDH 30 owes its superior linearity, among other things, to frequency-selective absorbers that eliminate the overemphasis in the high frequencies that leads to incorrect mixing decisions in many other headphones. For example, the NDH 30 will accurately reveal whether a voice sounds muffled or needs a de-esser.
  • The spatial resolution is impressive. The NDH 30 allows razor-sharp localization in the stereo panorama and makes the depth of the mix evident. To minimize channel crosstalk, the NDH 30 is supplied with a high-quality cable that is internally balanced.

  • With its high linearity and detail resolution, the NDH 30 is perfectly compatible with a loudspeaker system that has been optimally calibrated using Neumann Automatic Monitor Alignment.
  • Mixes begun at home or on the road using the NDH 30 can be seamlessly continued in the studio using KH-Line loudspeakers—and vice versa. At the same time, the NDH 30 is recommended as a headphone sound reference; headphones, after all, have long become the dominant playback system among consumers.
  • The NDH 30 is ideal for checking headphone compatibility and creating binaural mixes of immersive content (including VR and gaming). As consistency and reliability are essential in mixing and mastering, the NDH 30 is manufactured to extremely tight tolerances, so each headphone sounds exactly the same.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is their weight, not the package weight?

A: Neumann has not provided the weight without packaging for the Neumann NDH 20 Headphones, only the packed weight, which is 1.22 kg (2 lbs 11 oz).

Q: 2. I know it says the earpads are "suede", but checking if that's real suede or synthetic? Thanks

A: The earpads on the Sony MDR-MV1 Open-Back Reference Monitor Headphones are made of a soft, synthetic suede-like material, not genuine suede leather.

Q: 3. Where ManufacturingChina or Austria?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 4. Is this comfortable?

A: I've worn versions of this headphone for very long periods of time in the studio, but now that I'm not in the studio anymore, I've purchased them for my employees who want great sound and comfort and may be sitting and coding for long periods. I think they are a great set.

Q: 5. Can these power Sennheiser 650 headphones?

A: The RME Babyface Pro FS 24-Channel USB-B Audio/MIDI Interface will work with 300-ohm headphones, like the Sennheiser HD 650, although a dedicated headphone amp may yield more desirable results.

Q: 6. What is the difference between akg k 701 and akg k 702 they weigh the same and specs seem the same?

A: There is no difference in the headphones according to AKG aside from color and the detachable cable on the K 702.

Q: 7. Are the earcups glued or detachable? There were some units produced with glued earcups. I want the detachable ones.

A: The ear pad cover are detachable

Q: 8. Is the SMH 1200 Bu a head phone to use for Music editing and personal listening?

A: In my opinion they may be used for either activity as long as the content source offers enough power to drive the 65 ohm load of the headphones. They are super comfortable for long sessions of editing or easy listening for pure enjoyment.

Q: 9. It is priced the same as the (black & Red) Clear MG "Professional" but this Chestnut colored one is NOT labelled "Professional". Is it a "Lower Standard Tool" than the professional (or was the person typing in the description negligent to the details)?

A: The product names are listed in the same manner as Focal lists them on their website and in the product manuals. The Focal Clear MG Open-Back Headphones - Chestnut and Mixed Metal Finish (B&H # FOFCLEARMG) does not list "Professional" in the title and it includes two different cables than those that come with the black and red Focal Clear MG Professional Open-Back Headphones (B&H # FOCLEARPROMG). The Clear MG comes with a 9.8' balanced cable with a 4-pin XLR connector and a 3.9' unbalanced cable with a 3.5mm connector, as well as a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter. The Clear MG Professional comes with a 16' unbalanced coiled cable with a 1/4" connector and a 3.9' unbalanced cable with a 3.5mm connector, as well as a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter. The specs for both models are exactly the same, but they seem to be marketing to different users which is why the included cables are different. Focal mentions that the Clear MG is for home use while the Clear MG Professional is for studio use. Here are links to the manufacturer's information pages for both models: Clear MG - http://www.focal.com/en/headphones-0/headphones/for-home/clear-mg Clear MG Professional - http://www.focal.com/en/clear-mg-professional-exceptional-headphones-for-music-creators

[120 Ohms] Absolutely the best headphones I have ever used. The sound is exceptionally clear and detailed, and they are so comfortable to wear. They are well made, and should last a long time. Although they are expensive, I feel that they are really worth it.

[120 Ohms] I usually don't write reviews because I'm a perfectionist and almost nothing impresses me, I just use what I bought for professional purposes and it's enough for me that it does the job.
But here is a slightly different case. After the appearance
Neumann NDH 30 made it easier to live and work. They sound exactly what I recorded on the microphones and everything that I mixed almost exactly the same sounds on all other devices.
The stereo is very well separated. The sound scene is shown very correctly. NDH 30 are very comfortable, I don't feel them on my head even after several hours of use. The comfort is just incredible. The sound is accurate, detailed, transparent, dense, and correct throughout the entire frequency range. The quality of materials is at a high level. Ergonomics too.
The only comment is the cord. The cord is excellent, but the set is only 3 m and 1.2 m must be bought for $80. I thought it was not modest. I also think the price is too high. But it so happened that for audio, video and photo equipment they always take more than it should actually cost. People don't protest, so they can continue like this.

[1/4"] I like these headphones. Flat sound like they're suppose to be.

[2.22 lb] The isolation these offer is great, they totally shut out noise from the outside world.

Their midbass response is very emphasized, to the point of them sounding a little underwater-ish out of the box. I have it EQ'd down about 3db centered on 350Hz, spanning from about 150-800Hz and with that they sound immaculate. Definitely my favorite pair of headphones I've tried to date, I prefer these over DT 770 or Sundara (the other headphones I have experience with).

They have a powerful bass response but not at the expense of other frequencies, if you're into electronic music or anything with substantial low-end, these will do it justice.

The headband isn't padded extremely well, they are plenty comfortable at first but after a few hours of wearing them it can get fatiguing on the head, I added a few adhesive memory foam pads to the headband to remedy this.

If you're after a perfectly flat response, look into the endless open back options. But if isolation and really present low-end response is what you want, these will take you to another world!
