I have removed the screw, oiled it, and tried many times. I can physically push the clamp plate all the way in, so the springs are not in the way. How can I fix this so I can use this head again?

A: Yes. You would just lock the vertical rotation arm and open the horizontal lock. The gimbal will just rotate left to right all the way around if you want. Smaller lenses are no prob but I would yes the Arca quick release plate attached to thr camera. This is a great Gimbal.
