It's a practical and simple solution that minimizes vocal plosive sounds of announcers and singers who work up close to the microphone.

In recording or podcast studios, it will also reduce noise from moving air produced by air conditioning, fans, or ventilation systems, up to 8 dB with only minimal high-frequency loss. The windscreen simplifies recording podcasts or vocals with a broadcast dynamic microphone. When recording at home or in the office, you'll need to reduce the noise from moving air caused by ventilation systems, fans, or air conditioners without muffling the sound. Rather than turning off the AC or fan while you record, simply slip the windscreen over your microphone to minimize noise due to moving air.

If you prefer to work close to the microphone for those great low frequencies from the proximity effect, you're bound to incur the drastic P and B sounds that seem like miniature explosions. As an alternative to moving further away from the microphone, the windscreen minimizes those disruptive vocal plosives while allowing you to stay close to the mic.

Dirt, dust, and even the moisture from your breath can damage a mic capsule. This simple foam windscreen shields against harmful debris and moisture, and it prolongs the life of your microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it fit the Sony WRT-867A?

A: The Auray WHF-158 Foam Windscreen fits most standard ball-head microphones. According to published specifications by Sony, the WRT-867A has a 2 diameter. The Auray may work, but might be a tight fit.

Q: 2. Does this fit a HMD 280-13 microphone?

A: As you know the Aurray is a diameter. The original part number from Sennheiser is 083411 which I was unable to locate on our site nor was I able to get the dimensions from Sennehiser. I think the Aurray should work. If you are in doubt you can order it right from Sennheiser.

Q: 3. Will this fit over Samson's C01U Pro USB Studio Condenser mic?

A: This windscreen will fit on the Samson C01U Pro USB Studio Microphone.

Q: 4. is this suitable for an Audix mb5050?

A: That is more appropriate for a shotgun mic. For a gooseneck mic, you want to use something more like the Electro-Voice WS-PC1. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/434453-REG/Electro_Voice_302066000_WS_PC1_Windscreen_for_PolarChoice.html

Q: 5. Will this fit over the H1 Zoom Handy recorder? Yes I know Zoom has a windscreen but...way overpriced for what I need.

A: This 5/8 screen may cover a bit more of the recorder than you would like. Auray makes another foam screen which is fitted for the H1.a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885042-REG/auray_wrf_h1_foam_windscreen_for_zoom.html/pageID/accessory target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885042-REG/auray_wrf_h1_foam_windscreen_for_zoom.html/pageID/accessory/aA foam screen will be effective for vocal plosives, or wind up to about 5 mph.For stronger winds, you will need a furry windscreen, which will be good for wind up to about 20mph.

Q: 6. fits with Senal ENG-18RL?

A: Yes it is compatible

Q: 7. Will this fit snugly on a Warm Audio WA-14 large condenser mic?

A: Yes, the Auray WCF-UB440 foam windscreen does fit properly on the Warm Audio WA-14 large-diaphragm microphone.

Q: 8. Will this foam windscreen properly fit a blue yeti microphone? if not, which will?

A: The Auray WCF-UB440 will fit the Blue Yeti. However, a pop filter is recommended as it will protect you from plosives and sibilance without affecting the frequency response of the mic as a foam windscreen would. The Auray PFSS-55 is a solid recommendation. a href= http://bhpho.to/1rgFOFB target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1rgFOFB/a

Q: 9. Will it fit on the Audio Technica ATR2100X-USB?

A: This foam windscreen is the appropriate fit for the Audio-Technica ATR2100X-USB microphone.

Q: 10. This foam will fit to the original camara micro EXM-XM1 of my Sony ?

A: I used the WSF - 2012 Foam Windscreen for the Sony shotgun EXM - XM1 and worked OK.Eddy

[0.045 lb] What's better than one mic? Multiple mics. this one windscreen fits all of them. I have multiple style microphones and it has not failed to fit any of them. I don't know if it will break down over time like these types of foams do. Other than that, I'm enjoying using them right now.

[Foam] I purchased two of these. They are designed for large, round mics, so it's no surprise that one I bought for an AT2020 mic fit just fine. I gambled on a second one, hoping it would fit my JZ Vintage 11 mic, which has a narrow rectangular profile from the top (it's a wide, flat, side-address mic). The WBV-BDM fits the JZ mic perfectly. I did a quick vocal recording, slipping the windscreen on and off, listening as I recorded, and more carefully on playback, and also looking at a real-time spectrogram, focusing especially on the high end (which can get suppressed by cheap windscreen material). I couldn't detect a change in tonality in the high end (or mids) from the windscreen, and the spectrogram didn't reveal any visible changes. I did some deliberate, modest p popping as I recorded, and the windscreen actually works surprisingly well as a pop filter. Considering the bargain price of these, I'm very happy with the performance, and the surprise of a perfect fit for the unusual profile of the JZ Vintage 11.
