Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is designed mic weight range for this? (The manufacturer's video indicates that different designs serve different applications. Makes sens. So what weight mic can THIS one handle? One reviewer noted his recorder flopped around too much.)

A: For recorders with a weight 300g (.67 lbs) or higher Rycote recommends the Portable Recorder Suspension HD. https://bhpho.to/2lzKviy This will support larger recorders such as the Zoom H6, Marantz PMD661, Roland R26 and other similarly sized recorders.

Q: 2. When using the h4n zoom recorder in this case, can the hole where the headphones can be plugged in be accessed near the top of the case on the side? That is where that particular hole is located for my recorder

A: The upper strap almost covers the headphone hole but if the H4N is pushed fully to the very bottom of the case, then the headphone hole is open and accessible. The Remote hole however is covered, On the other side the Menu button and part of the Record Level button are covered by the other strap - but you can maneuver the strap around to get at the buttons. Suppose the straps have to go somewhere.

Q: 3. Can use this with a Dtap port from a camera battery using a Dtap to 4pin hirose adapter?

A: It should work with your camera if you have a cable like the CAMVATE D-Tap to 4-Pin Hirose Cable (B&H # CAC2379).

Q: 4. Why is the belt clip come upside down when shipped? Is there a trick to get it removed to turn it back the other way? The nylon sleeve it is in is very narrow so it does not pull out easily

A: The little flap the clip is on is supposed to swing upward so that the case sort of hangs down from the clip.

Q: 5. Is the center pin positive or negative?

A: Polarity is switchable. Insert the tip one way - it is positive. Reverse the tip to reverse the polarity. It is in the manual.

Q: 6. Will this fit a Sound Devices MM-1?

A: No, the Sachtler Portable Digital Recorder Pouch will not accommodate the size of the Sound Devices MM-1 Single-Channel Portable Microphone Preamp.

Q: 7. Does this have a belt loop or hook?

A: Yes it has a belt loop with a pocket clip.

Q: 8. Will the Tascam DR-40 fit in this?

A: This case will accommodate the Tascam DR-40.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with either the Sony PCM-D10 or the Sony PCM-D100?

A: Yes, the Sachtler pouch is compatible for use with the Sony PCM-D10 and PCM-D100 recorders.

Q: 10. I have a wireless receiver that needs DC7V to operate (Sony WRR 855). Can I use Battery bud to power it?

A: The Battery Bud is only a distributor of a power source connected to it. The WRR-855 by itself has a specific din connection, meant for dropping into a camcorder receiver slot. To attempt use of the WRR-855 as a standalone receiver, you'd first need the Sony BTA-801. This will provide a 12V 4 pin connection and a separate audio out. Next, you would need a properly wired audio cable to send power to the correct pins from the Bud to the BTA-801. Then, you would need a 12V lithium battery with battery cup to attach to the Bud.

[2' / 61 cm] Having owned the original Battery Bud for five years, I was glad they came out with the 5 outlet model. I currently run 3 Lectro 411s and 1 lectro Sr5BP receiver and 2 Lectro SMQV transmitters for hops, plus my 664 off of this. The money I save in AA lithiums from the hops will definitely more than pay for the BAtt Bud 2. The design and construction are well thought out for Location Sound Recordists who work out of a bag. It takes up minimum landscape in the bag. The mini Hirose connectors are rock solid. I have never had one pop off on me. But what do you expect from a Field Audio Genius like Peter Engh (Man behind Batt Bud)! . Whether you are starting out and building your kit or an experienced field sound mixer this power distro is worth purchasing. In our line of work, you literally get what you pay for!

[1] This is a great little power distro box. I use it with a Nomad 6 mixer, and a Lectro Quadbox. I power it with an Anton/Bauer Dionic 90 battery. It has a clip that hooks to your mixer bag. It does what it's supposed to! The on/off button connects to all of the outputs-no pass-through.

[2' / 61 cm] This thing has already paid for itself I'm using it for production to power all my Lectro Lav's that require 2 9v's with 4 weeks of production I'm definitely glad I made the purchase as I have something after I'm done with this shoot it allows me to put more $ in my pocket!
