This 72mm B+W MRC-Nano Circular Polarizer Filter 72mmfrom B+W MRC-Nano Circular Polarizer Filter 72mmhelps reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from nonmetallic surfaces. Ambient light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges this light perpendicularly to the reflected light, resulting in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from nonmetallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

B+W's Master filter line products are equipped with the exclusive MRC nano premium coating technology. This high-quality broadband coating is applied on both sides and enhances the optical imaging properties to achieve a uniform and increased transmittance across the entire light spectrum, with minimal physically induced remaining reflection. The nano all-round protection on the filter glass ensures increased scratch resistance and extremely easy and fast cleaning.

[Glass] Bought this for my Nikon 105mm macro lens 2 years ago and have never regretted it. I literally never take it off. Images are clean with no weird color cast. That said, I wouldn't buy this for a cheaper lens or a lens I don't use very seriously.

[0.15 lb] A really fine filter. The high transmission aspect makes the filter more useful.

[0.15 lb] IO have been using the B+W polarizers fo years, with different camera+lens systems. They have always been very reliable mechanically (threads and the ring) and very good optically with no color cast and with uniform polarization effect across the filter.

[Glass] If you must have an additional piece of glass in front of your fancy Canon L-Series lenses, B W is the only way to go in my opinion.

[Glass] I have three others and understand how well they work.
I like the slim design.
The rotation is flawless.
Other parameters are as specified.
Color enhancement is obvious.
Sky bluing is quite pronounced.
Extremely effective when imaging antique and sports vehicles.
Dramatic results when imaging waterfowls.
I hope this will be of assistance and support.
Last but not least, usual super service from B & H.

[0.15 lb] I recently used this filter on a cruise trip through Canada and the N.E. U.S. This filter helped me tremendously when in sunny areas and ocean pictures. It's easy to use, the variability lends additional creativity to your pictures, and it's easy to mount.

[Brass] Every lens that my wife and I have are these filters. This way we have consistency with our shots. I shot film she shoots digital both medium format.

[Brass] Still performs the best. Hoya does a decent job and their aluminum construction seems to be easier to turn. However B+W is easier to remove and is more durable. Their optical qualities are similar.

[72 mm] I've only been using B W filters for many years. This current line of polarizers is fantastic. I can rotate the ring with one finger which is helpful, the quality of the glass and the overall build quality is fantastic and of course the polarizing affect is as good as it could possibly be. There will always be light loss but with this filter it is minimal compared to other polarizers.

Also with this Master line, even though they are thin you can still use your lens regular original lens caps. Just a hint; the B W Pro filters are so thin there isn't enough metal for a lens cap to grab on to. Big pain in the rear end.

So anyway B W is consistently good. Every lens I own has both a B W UV and polarizing filter. The one small annoyance is that they no longer provide the plastic box to store the filter. They now come in a cloth bag inside the cardboard box. Now I have to find some way to protect them in my camera bag. Charge me one dollar more and provide the plastic box.

Great filter, get one. Happy photographing everyone!

[Glass] I am a film photographer and I bought this for my Pentax f/1.4 50mm lens to shoot long exposures of waterfalls. For such a low price I was prepared for problems but all of my images were beautiful and consistent, no difference in picture quality at different exposure times and different lighting conditions. The fact it is waterproof was greatly appreciated since the spray radius off some of the falls was quite impressive. Overall very pleased especially for the price, I would def buy from this brand again.
Good to note: I primarily shoot black and white, and the only color shots I took with this filter were at night, so I can't really speak to how it might affect colors. What I did shoot looked accurate and I don't see any discoloration.
