A 1.5x squeeze ratio is a perfect balance between the size and anamorphic intensity. With a 1.5x squeeze ratio, you will have a 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze. There is also room for you to crop into a 2.4:1 widescreen ratio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this EF Bayonet work with speedboosters? Sometimes EF mounts have an extended protrusion that makes them incompatible

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 35mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) adapter would work with with Speed Boosters.

Q: 2. How is it that DZO can make a 12mm full frame lens that accepts front lens filters, yet their 16mm can not?

A: The DZOFilm VESPID 16mm T2.8 Cine Lens (B&H # DZ16VPL) has a convex glass design that would not allow for threaded filters to mount. Usually, matte boxes are the solution for filters paired with cine lenses, with the exception of some that can support threaded filters. It's also DZOFIlm discretion to produce the type and style of cine lenses within their collection.

Q: 3. will they work on Z Cam E2-F6 Pro Full frame camera?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens is an S35 sensor sized lens. It would not be a good choice for a Full frame camera like the Z CAM E2-F6.

Q: 4. What is the Angle of VIew?

A: The DZOFilm VESPID 12mm T2.8 Cine Lens (ARRI PL & Canon EF) Field of view, is 112.6 horizontally and 90 vertically.

A: The Vazen Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens is meant for Vista Vision sensors like the RED Monstro but it will cover the RED Raven Super35 sensor.

Q: 7. Although it is not a recommended lens from DJI, wouldn't this theoretically fit on the zenmuse x5s sensor for the inspire 2?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 1.5x S35 Anamorphic Lens (MFT Mount, Blue Flare) is too large to be balanced by the gimbal on the DJI Inspire 2.

Q: 8. Can I swap this EF mount onto the RF lenses?

A: Yes, The Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 50mm T2.4 Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon EF) will adapt to the Interchangeable Bayonet (Canon RF) mount system.

Q: 9. What is the outside diameter of the lens? I’m looking for an adapter to allow the lens to work with the Tilta Mirage matte box.

A: The outside diameter of the DZOFilm VESPID 16mm T2.8 Cine Lens (PL & EF Mounts) is approximately 80mm.

Q: 10. Does it only fit the 28mm? Does not fit in the 50mm or 35mm E mount version?

A: That is correct, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 Interchangeable Bayonet (ARRI PL) only works with the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 anamorphic cine lens. The other two lenses have specific adapters just for them.

[T2.8] I film architecture and this easily replaced my Tokina 11-20 and I am more than happy to have done it. This is easily my new favorite lens. Well made and pretty rugged. There is nothing cheap about this lens.

The image is so wide and pleasing.

[77 mm] Coming from spherical lenses - the price tag might seems high - especially for a relatively unknown brand. But it’s actually very affordable compared to the competition !
Anything cheaper for full frame will fake some of the characteristic of anamorphic lenses, and have no or very low squeeze. I wish it had a 2x squeeze - but the 1.8 squeeze probably allow to slightly more affordable price - while being optimal for 16:9 sensors, that are most likely what you’ll use it on...
Paired with a A7siii the image quality is amazing !
I recommend pairing this with a monitor that allow you to see the desqueezed image, as it can be fairly hard to focus without it, and framing as well can be challenging.
For an anamorphic lens, it’s very sharp, even wide open, I mostly shoot at T4 though mostly because it can be challenging to nail focus with this kind of lenses, as they’re slightly softer than spherical (not in a bad way, image is very pleasing), similar to using a light diffusion filter.
Overall, I totally recommend this lens, hopefully we see a 2x version soon too !
Also, if you’re in a limited budget, I would recommend the 40mm MFT version paired with a Blackmagic pocket 4K... the package would come to $4500 vs $12000... for a little more than 1/3 of the price, result is very close. The A7siii has an edge in low light obviously but if you’re using even minimal lighting (which you should), it shouldn’t be an issue. The blackmagic has the advantage of having a bigger screen - easier to manually focus without monitor.
Both are fantastic combos - and a lot cheaper than Cooke paired with an Alexa ...

[ARRI PL] First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation.

Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light).

I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it.

However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic.

Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.

[13] Great value for the price. The aesthetics of the images achieved are beautiful. It would be nice to have a detailed manufacturer's video of the mount change from PL to EF.

[77 mm] I am truly amazed by the images these lenses can produce for the price and size! If you are looking for lenses that don't look sterile and have some character to them without having to sell all your possessions to afford them, then these are absolutely the lenses for you!

[T16] I am not really able to compare it to the others in the set yet… but it’s a safe bet this is the weakest of the 4 or 3if FF only. Partially just from to the focal length not conveying the look as strong as the wider lenses but also it really works best stopped down a tad…as it’s rather soft wide open. However I am def still very impressed by the overall quality and quality of these… they don’t feel cheap just small … shockingly small. The 100mm in PL is smaller than my RF 50mm f1.2! Impressed by this but it comes at the cost of some obvious chromatic aberrations… still for the money this is great and 1.5x may seem to enough squeeze the bokeh and flares look very anamorphic to my eyes shockingly so.
If you order just one maybe the 45mm 65mm or if your on smaller than 17mm high S35 sensors… get the 35mm . This lens great but don’t make it your only option.

[13] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.
