Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. ISO 25600 but at 8 fps. What is the native or best low light ISO for this camera shooting video at 24p or UHD at 24p?

A: Panasonic hasnt provided that information at this time.

Q: 2. Does it have a hot shoe mount? How would you mount the Zoom H1?

A: It's not a hot shoe, but you can get a mount for the H1 (HS-1 or generic). I actually use a wireless receiver mounted to the show which feeds the camera's mic input.

Q: 3. How does the video quality on this compare to a DSLR?

A: Video quality is great. Nice color balance and nothing is blown out. You have the option of different film modes to add effect to your recordings. Dont let the small size fool you it is a great Vlogging, capture the moment video camera as well as a decent camera. If your going to use it for action filming I would caution you.

Q: 4. hi , Can i record 4k in a class 10 SDHC SDCARD on the G7?

A: You should be very cautious if you want to use a class 10 SD/SDHC/SDXC card. Class 10 cards have a minimum write speed of 10 MBps. The G7 writes 4K footage at 100 mbps, or 12.5 MBps. As such, a SD card that says that it is rated for Class 10, while it may advertise a up to speed of more than 12.5 MBps, is only required to hit 10 MBps and may not be able to constantly keep up with the G7. The next write speed up, U3, has a minimum write speed of 30 MBps, and will definitely be able to keep up with the G7.

Q: 5. Can I get a clean hdmi output into my blackmagic atem mini for live streaming? If so is there a type of dummy battery that I can use to ensure the camera doesn’t die mid stream? Will the camera shut off on it own even if it’s not recording or can I change that within the settings?

A: Yes, the G7 has clean hdmi out and the ac adapters can been seen here; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=blc12&filters=fct_battery-series_3189%3Apanasonic-dmw-blc12

Q: 6. Does the G7 have a magnesium alloy body?

A: No, it is most definitely plastic. Most cameras are plastic and some do a good job of feeling almost metallic, but this one feels very plasticky. That said, it is in fact quite solidly built, it just seems like they didn't pay attention to tactile feeling, which admittedly is more a marketing thing than an engineering thing.

Q: 7. The silver version looks more like 'graphite' in the photos. Is that the true color?

A: I would say it is a dark silver or graphite. Here is a YouTube unboxing and you can be the judge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyxpQrDFXjE

Q: 8. Will the GX8 split clips up in segments if the video length passes a certain amount of gigabytes, like the G7 did?

A: It will, yes.

Q: 9. Will this thermal camera work with a Typhoon H?

A: The YUNEEC E10T Thermal & Optical PTZ Gimbal Camera with 6.3mm Thermal Lens for H520 Hexacopter is designed for the YUNEEC H520E RTK and YUNEEC TYPHOON H520 drones.

Q: 10. Is it weather resistant?

A: No, this camera is not weather resistant.

[Battery] It's an Excellent, basic, minimal home inspection thermal camera. The fluke software improves the image over better resolution cameras of other manufacturers. But it has limitations without focus and minimal resolution. We purchased as an inexpensive additional thermal for my inspection company. It's 5 stars for its intended purposes. But it has limited resolution. It's not a 3,000 dollar camera. But at 1 k it was not intended to be.

[Battery] Easy set up. Worked right off the bat and saw birds in the trees, deer many yards away, and lots of mice in the field. Fun to use.

[Battery] I was blown away by the image quality of this unit. I’ve used 320 and 640 handheld units before as well as the top of the lineup Seek phone camera. The processing on the T2 is phenominal. The relatively large front lens is a huge plus too. The image from this rivals the better 320 cores I’ve used. The resolution isn’t as good, but for distance viewing what’s more important is handling noise. The Seek cannot handle noise at all. It turns to a blurry mess shortly even though it’s higher resolution. Even some of the standalone 320 units don’t process noise out as well, making the final picture harder to see.

The T2 processing cuts out the noise while keeping detail. The plain white hot/black hot modes do great to show detail in settings like neighborhoods while the highlight contrast mode makes animals/people stick out from the background significantly. Very helpful when trying to see if the warm thing is something the sun heated a bit or something living.

The phone holder fit both the camera and phone snugly without cranking down on the adjustments. The handle makes viewing much more stable than without, though it’s not required. Still, the stability matched to the zoom of the lens makes the handle a huge plus.

If you’re interested in trying thermal or have a use where having your phone out isn’t a problem, the T2 is the perfect low cost, high value unit. Others may be better for circuit board work or other niches, but for general outdoor activities the T2 Pro is the best bargain going.

[Battery] I purchased the FLIR one Pro LT and have been using it for a couple of days in my house. I mainly got it to inspect the parts of my house where it's hottest/coldest (season dependent) and has already helped me identify the culprit areas that I'm now getting insulation installed to mitigate.

The only thing I'd like to see added to the mobile app, iOS in my case, is that the thermal range bar is exported when an image is was taken to add further add context to the image. People that are shown the images always ask what the range of colors means.

[Battery] Great unit to see heat signatures of all kind. I have used it in house and the woods. The other night in complete darkness my dog was going crazy by the fence. I used it and seen a rabbit tantalizing him.

[Battery] Pro level build quality at a very reasonable price. I use it for power amplifier diagnostics, but it seems to have unlimited uses. Very well designed and useful device.

[Battery] Easy to set up and holds the phone securely. Wish it came with a case or it collapsed easily.

[Battery] I bought this device for birding, specifically looking for owls at night. Some of the top thermal scopes cost upwards of $4k. The problem is, they are clearly marked as Export Controlled. I don't want to get into any trouble with those. This little plug-in camera cost only $400. So I decided to give it a try. I brought it to Guatemala a few days ago, hooked up with an old Pixel 3A phone, it worked great, far better than I expected. I found an owl at night perched silently behind our cabin on my second night there. I could see the red-hot owl based on the body shape. Even smaller birds can show up as hotspots at night. Definitely worth the $$$.
