The Tiffen 4"x4" Low Contrast Filterworks to lessen contrast across the image by creating a small amount of controlled flare near highlight areas. This enables greater detail to be attained in shadow regions, while unaffecting the values of highlights, in order to produce lower apparent contrast. This filter is ideal for use during midday and other high contrast lighting situations when it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 2 density provides less contrast adjustment than the 3 density, but more than the 1 density filter.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work well on the Milky Way?

A: It helps to remove some light pollutions from the sky

Q: 2. I found this lens in my camera gear. I have no idea why I have it or what lens it belongs to. What Nikon Lens might this fit?

A: Tiffen 72mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filterhas a 72mm front thread. Nikon lenses usually have this information listed on the front thread or the barrel.

Q: 3. will this work with a canon 18-135mm lens?

A: It is the right size for your lens but if you use it at the widest angle you'll get some vignetting where the edge of the filter will appear as a dark shadow in the outer corners of the image. It won't be a problem at longer focal lengths. This is tolerable if you can crop these corners in post production. This filter will really raise the quality of light and colour in your landscapes.

Q: 4. What is the total thickness of this filter?

A: Are you referring to the glass, or the aluminum filter ring?

Q: 5. What is the diameter of this filter? 77mm? 72mm?

A: This is an internal lens filter for size Filter Wheel 1 which is 28mm in diameter. If you are looking for an Ultra Contrast 1 filter in 72 or 77mm please search for 72UC1 or 77UC1 on the B&H website.

Q: 6. will this be compatible with hp z2 sff g9 board version 895D?

A: The HP Dual TBT4 PCIe x4 Low-Profile Card is not compatible with the HP Z2.

Q: 7. Will a standard lens cap still clip onto this filter (asking because it doesn't have front threads)?

A: Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter has 67mm front threads. You can attach your lenscap on this filter.

Q: 8. I'm new to lens filters, how does this attach to the lens?

A: Welcome to the world of filters! :) It's simple, really! The front of your lens has female receiving threads and this filter has male threads; you simply screw the filter into the front of the lens till you feel some slight resistance (for tightness) and you're good to go! You want to make sure you're buying the right size filter for the right lens diameter. That's the only consideration you'll need to make for the most part.

Q: 9. What Thunderbolt 4 controller does this card have?

A: The manufacturer hasn't specified the Thunderbolt 4 controller used in the HP Dual TBT4 PCIe x4 Low-Profile Card.

Q: 10. Does this work with AMD X670 AM5 Motherboards?

A: Yes, you can use the HP Dual TBT4 PCIe x4 Low-Profile Card to bring Thunderbolt 4 connectivity to an AMD X670 motherboard.

[6 x 5.5 x 1"] Helps to reduce extra sharpness and contrast .Helps to make video looks more cinematic . FX 3 seems like a right number , maybe FX2 gonna works fine also .

[6 x 5.5 x 1"] Love this filter to bring up the shadows and make the highlights glow. Don’t think that “1” is too strong.

[0.4 lb] I use this on my film camera that I use entirely for black and white photography. Not a strong polarizing filter, but the filter factor is 2 (i.e. exactly 1 stop) which makes compensation easy.

[6 x 5.5 x 1"] I am experimenting with this filter to see how to use it to get different results. It lowers the contrast of the image as per the description, but you can use this characteristic in different ways. I have no scientific proof, but I feel that it also increases the dynamic range of my camera sensor. An interesting and unique filter.

[0.4 lb] This filter narrows the dynamic range of what I'm shooting in bright sunlight just a little bit. Wish I had got the number 2 filter instead of number 1, but I feel I got my money's worth.

[6 x 5.5 x 1"] I used this with Rosco polarizing filter sheets on my soft boxes to photograph framed artwork and glare from the glass was eliminated.

[0.4 lb] I checked videos online about tests done with this filter to see which Ultra contrast filter level I was going to buy. I decided to go with UC 2, and now that I have it in my hand and could perform tests on my own, I must say it is pretty strong. the UC 1 is just enough. Another thing you must take into account is that the exposition can not be trusted from the camera. With this filter you have to use a light meter all the time. Because the camera reading is at least 1 1/2 stop under the real exposition. Other than that is a great tool when you are shooting video, and don't want those black without information, and you want to avoid overexposed highlights
