Q: 1. The barrel of the 100-400 expands and contracts as the focal length is changed. What happens to the barrel cover when this is done?

Q: 10. Does this cover protect against water and humidity?

A: easyCover claims its neoprene covers have water-resistant exteriors but does not comment on their protection against humidity. In our estimates, its resistance against humidity is minimal, and you would be better protected against it with desiccants in your carrying case such as these: https://bhpho.to/3kheI5X https://bhpho.to/3Epl4IF

[Handle] I wanted clarity for all distances, ease of use, close up focus (within 4 ft - I can focus on and magnify the ground at my feet while standing!) as well as far distances, not to heavy, easy and quick to sweep gaze and change focus at where I'm looking, solid feel, end lens covers that don't fall off, able to use with/without eye glasses, nice grip in B hands, no fall out at the edges of vision. This has it. Hard case great, light. Well designed binoculars. I'm no expert. I did not want to spend over $150. I scoured reviews and best of this year and that - much information, but I wrote down what they said I should try and get. The 8x magnification is perfect with the lighter weight than 10x. I am a slight woman in 60's, the regular neck strap seems fine. I have no idea what the ED does compared to others but the light, focus and clarity is great in these. I am an artist and visual clarity means a lot to me. B & H were excellent, replied to email question within a day, shipped by express which was 'free.' No complaints.

[Black] If you are in the market for a small binocular with top-of-the-line performance this, is it.

I have several old binoculars a Meade 7 x 50 porro, a Tasco 10 x 25 and Bushnell 10 X 25 and which like me were getting are old.

A friend recently became interested in bird watching and I did the research.  As I live in the Houston area and at the edges of both the Central and Mississippi migratory bird flyways in the U.S. and live on a large tract of land, I have the opportunity to see a lot of different birds.

As my old Meade was becoming harder to focus, I looked at the current market of ED binoculars and saw the Celestron NatureDX 8 X 42 model.  Like many reviews it is fantastic binocular.  I also decided to replace my small truck binoculars with something better than the Tasco 10 X 25 or the Bushnell and found the Hawk Vantage 8 X 32 model and I ordered it.  I also gave some thought to the Hawke Endurance ED model and almost sent an email to B & H to change out my order but I didn’t.

Upon arriving I did a comparison of the Celestron NatureDX against the Hawke Vantage.  I cannot see the difference between the two.  I can clearly see the difference between the Vantage the Tasco and the Bushnell. So, I drove out to the coast to look at the coastal shore birds.  The Vantage is a very good binocular.  It is lite, well built, easy to focus, very good light and for an eye glasses wearing person like me it has great eye relief.  I don’t see how the Vantage Endurance could be much better.

The Vantage is great binocular.

[Empty] This is an excellent 'scope for use with standard velocity 22 LR ammunition. Optical performance is excellent, hash marks on the etched glass reticle for hold over are clear and work well for longer shots once a 50 yard zero is obtained. This Hawke 'scope is a great value and as usual, best price and shipment was found at B&H.

[Handle] I have an Arca-Swiss clamp for my spotting scope so I can use the scope on any of my tripods and not need an additional one when engaged in wildlife photography. The special locking mechism of the Hawke table top tripod allows for firmly locking the Arca-Swiss clamp in place and having no issues with the heavy scope pivoting on the tripod. This is not provided with the other table top tripods that are designed for use with lightweight cameras.

[Empty] This 4 power Hawke is a real “sleeper!”
I just put a 22 Magnum Barrel on my CZ455, since I don’t have anything in that caliber
I didn’t want to put much money in a scope as this was going to be a “beater” that I carried in the Swamp while on a boat.
A 4x with AO is unusual in that you usually get that on a variable power. I didn’t want too many functions, just a simple scope, but I would probably be shooting squirrels, rabbits, alligators, snakes, turtles: at ranges of 10 feet to a maximum of 100 yards.
And an Adjustable Onjective on a fixed power would be perfect.
I found it a balanced look, attached to the 3/8 dovetail on the CZ455. Not too big.
I was amazed at the clarity and light gathering of this $70 scope. And the AO was the icing on the cake. Easy to rotate and so I left it set at about 27 yards(most of my shots)
It was perfect! I was getting 3/4 inch groups with the CCI Gamepoint 40 grain. Leaning against a tree for a rest. WOW!
So I just ordered another one for my newly arrived Ruger RAR 22 Magnum in the black synthetic stock —a real “plain Jane” better suited for “in the boat” duty. (My CZ was bumped up to be my squirrel gun!
One of my Best Buys!!
Try one and you’ll see!
Mitch

[Handle] I am very happy with my Hawke binoculars 8x32). I've only had them a few weeks, but the few times I have used them I was impressed with the quality of the optics. The image is bright and sharp even when the subject is in the shadows. They are very well built but light weight. I would highly recommend these to anyone ready to upgrade to better binoculars on a limited budget. You can get better but you'll pay almost double what you can get these for. B&H had the best price and delivery was prompt (and free). I will return to B&H for my future photo or optical needs. Thank you.
