The DS1621+ runs on the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system that helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. Its CPU is a 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B Quad-Core and its 4GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which be upgraded to 32GB, allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed. The NAS is capable of sequential write speeds of up to 2300 MB/s, as well as 110,000 4K random read IOPS.

[25.2 dBA] I bought this to replace a 10-year-old Netgear NAS and was concerned that it would be more difficult to set up than the older box. The software was easy to navigate, setup was pretty foolproof with greater flexibility than my old (now obsolete) Netgear box. My only criticism is that the box itself has no LED screen to display status/IP address, etc, but the software allows you to assign an alias for the box that survives IP address changes, so the absent screen is not an issue on my very simple home network. 5

[2x 92 mm Fans] This is our second DS1621+. These are quality products that are easy to deploy and secure on the web as a private cloud. I highly recommend using this product's Active Backup for Office application as a cost effective solution to backup all of Office 365 and as a cost effective private cloud storage for large rarely needed data (like camera data). Host it yourself and save 10s of thousands! 5
