The RemoteMix 2 Broadcast Field Mixer from JK Audio is a two-channel field mixer/headphone amplifier designed for use in remote broadcast environments.

This mixer provides a communications interface for remote broadcast, IFB, or a backup audio path. The integrated headphone amplifier provides sidetone to monitor all inputs as well as an external feed. It also features a phone line hybrid with keypad along with a wired notebook/cell phone headset interface. These parts are designed to work together, saving setup time and wiring in the field. For TV, a phone line for real-time production monitoring can be used. This unit combines a small front-end mixer with two powerful 1/4” headphone outputs. It allows you to send and receive interview audio while pulling IFB off the phone line, cell phone, or notebook.

The RemoteMix 2 is suitable for use with live broadcast remotes. You can use it as a front-end mixer for your POTS, ISDN, IP, or smartphone codec. Additionally, you can use it as a phone line hybrid, calling into your studio talk show hybrid.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you adjust the audio on this equipment? We are running through a sound board.

A: Page 02 of the following data sheet shows how you would interface the AutoHybrid between your land line phone and your audio console. https://www.jkaudio.com/downloads/datasheets/JK-Audio-AutoHybrid-Datasheet.pdf

Q: 2. Does this work with VOIP? Or only POTS lines?

A: I've actually used this with an NEC DT700 which is a VOiP phone with a standard style handset. It worked pretty well. I would imagine that it works with any phone that has a standard RJ-11 handset connector.

Q: 3. I am trying this device with an Olympus digital recorder, connected via RCA cable. How do I reduce static noise? It seems that the noise level is amplified when connected. Not sure if the issue is THAT-2 or my battery-powered digital recorder...

A: I have not yet put into use this device

Q: 4. Do you have this in a longer cord? Or is there an extension cord that could be used with this?

A: There are several extension cords which will do this. I recommend using a 1/4 TRS cable such as the ones found at https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=1%2F4%22%20TRS%20extension%20cable&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search= target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=1%2F4%22%20TRS%20extension%20cable&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=/a .

Q: 5. can i use this rig with an Apple iPhone XS to then connect a phone call through a mixing board for an audio podcast?

A: The JK Audio AutoHybrid is a telephone audio interface, specifically for an old-fashioned landline, and will not work with a smartphone. I would recommend the JK Audio Daptor Three Bluetooth Cell Phone Audio Interface, B&H # JKDAP3, which can be connected to your iPhone through a 3,5mm cable or Bluetooth wireless, and can be inputted into your mixer. There is also a LINE IN on the unit, so you can send the signal back to the caller. You would require a mixer with and AUX Out feature.

Q: 6. I would like to use this device to make engineering test measurements of signals on the POTS phone line (noise, distortion, frequency response, etc.). Are the audio signal levels on the XLR connectors the same as one would measure on the POTS line (w/o the DC of course)? And can both directions of two-way conversation be measured with this device?

A: This information is not documented. Please contact JK Audio directly to speak to one of their support engineers:JK AudioTel: 800-552-8346Email: info@jkaudio.comWebsite: http://www.jkaudio.com/

Q: 7. I would like to know if this unit does its own mix minus. I intend to use it with a sound device 302 so no auxiliary sends are available.thanks

A: The JK Audio Auto Hybrid is a basic passive telephone interface. It features a line level input and output on XLR. It will need to be sent a mix-minus signal as there is no control on the unit itself.

Q: 8. I have a multi line LG Ipecs phone system and want an interface for radio interviews. Is this the unit that will do it?

A: This JK system is designed for analog phones and cannot be used with IP phones such as your LG Ipecs system. This may work for you, but it is strongly suggested that uyou verify compatibility with Ipecs support prior to purchasing: https://a href= http://www.ipecs.com/ target= _blank www.ipecs.com//a --------------------------------------------------- JK Audio AutoHybrid IP2 VoIP Hybrid/AoIP Codec B&H # JKAUTOIP2

Q: 9. I am experience a clicking noise when I feed an audio signal through the THAT2 unit. Any recommendations on how to resolve that noise? or suggestion on different equipment.

A: Clicking is often from telephone line. Try using the line input, as a test to see if its clean, then you know its the phone line.

Q: 10. does this item work with a 70 volt amplifier?

A: The AutoHybrid is a passive telephone audio interface, allowing a telephone signal to be brought into a mixing board as an audio signal, and then separating the caller and sender of the call. Typical use is radio call-in shows, podcasts and conferences.

[0.5B REN] We're a group of radio stations that utilize these adapters with the JK Audio Remote Mix 4. The audio quality is excellent even if we need to use these adapters with a cell phone for a road game.

[3.58 lb] Use this with JK Audio SportMix to interface with *newer* cellular phones. Today's Android and IPhones require a 4-conductor cable to work properly with the mixer. Simple replacement to standard 3-conductor cable. Works flawlessly with new phones for much better clarity over the air.

[11 x 8.4 x 3.3"] We are a small radio company and do a lot of sports broadcasts. We have three teams that are on the air twice weekly and we needed to outfit them with something to ensure that the games on the air. This was the perfect answer for the equipment we had. It was easily ordered, shipped quickly and arrived just in time for the start of our busy season.

[3.58 lb] For iphones with the jack, that is, as the newer ones don't have one. This little guy is of the utmost importance if you're using the JK Audio Remote Mix line, as it is the patch cord needed to connect to your iphone (or other mobile that fits its plug). I finally had one go bad after four years and although I had a backup, needed to replenish. Here's a tip about when the cord might be bad: It's not always easy to tell, as your headset mix will sound normal because it's coming from your remote mix device, but what's going through your phone may not be good audio from your remote mix because if the cord is bad your phone picks up sound through its normal mic, which ain't so good when competing with crowd noise. So your great audio mix isn't what's going through to your phone (in my case, an iphone). You may not detect the issue as your broadcast is still getting down the pipeline, just not so good. If the complaint on the listener end is that it's hard to hear you in the din and you know you have your nat-mic set to reasonable mix, try replacing the cord. I'm not techie enough to know why the cord would go bad as I've always guarded against crimping and abuse, but the long life and necessity of this patch make it a purchase of value.

[11 x 8.4 x 3.3"] Worked great with my Android phone and my ART direct box into the house mixer

[11 x 8.4 x 3.3"] Forty years of doing all the stick and ball sports plus auto racing for radio and never thought about a dedicated box as a field mixer. I may be dumber than that sounds.

The JK Remote X4 is like having a studio on-site without the bulk. Can now run a three-station network on-site with full control. Easy to carry, easy to set up, easy to connect in multiple ways. And with battery power, we can go anywhere now.

I've tried to find a negative, but I can't. For my needs, this is perfection.

[11 x 8.4 x 3.3"] I needed this for cellular radio broadcast and even though it was initially out of stock, it was shipped to me in a flash as soon as it became available. B&H had the best price and was one of the few placed I could find this particular piece of equipment. It was a life saver.
