CineStill Film 400Dynamic is a fine grain 35mm roll of color negative film that delivers a soft color palette with natural saturated color and rich, warm skin tones. The film has a wide dynamic range, with a base sensitivity of ISO 400. It can also be rated from 200 to 800 and pushed up to 3200. This makes the film highly versatile and suitable for any lighting conditions or event. It can be used outdoors or in the studio.

400D was specifically designed for still photography, and can be processed in C-41 chemistry by any photo lab or at home. It has a process-surviving, antistatic, lubricant coating that makes it ideal for both manual SLRs and automatic winding cameras.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This says it's "XPro," is this the same as the 800T sold on CineStill's website? Or is this a different formulation? Is this actual negative film, or is it reversal film that's designed to be cross processed in C-41? Or are they just saying it has a cross processed look to it?

A: It's a newer version of the original stock. It's actual color negative film to be processed with C-41.

Q: 2. so this is daylight, but you need a filter??????

A: Cinestill 800 is a tungsten light balanced film, it would be roughly equivalent to a digital white balance around say 3000k. It's perfect for indoors under tungsten lighting however you will need an orange filter (81a or similar) if you want to use this film in daylight or other lighting around 5100k (eg- flash, etc).

Q: 3. Is this a daylight or tungsten balanced film?

A: The CineStill Film 400Dynamic Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is daylight balanced.

Q: 4. Safe for ECN-2 processing?

A: C-41 processing should be used for this film. ECN-2 processing will work, but the images will have very flat contrast and subdued color palettes.

Q: 5. Could you reduce price for high quantity?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot. The prices we have listed for film are the best that we can offer.

Q: 6. Does it really have 0 remjet? It wont destroy the machine on the local photoshop then?

A: From their (CineStills) website:CineStill film is safe for standard photo lab machines and produces ideal negatives for scanning or printing. CineStill color film can also be easily processed by hand, using CineStills Color Simplified Cs41 processing kits, without worrying about rem-jet. I still havent had my roll of this film processed, but it seems like theyve made it safe for sending to a photo lab. Just to be safe send it in to the darkroom dot com and theyll know what to do with it for sure. Great lab for film processing.

Q: 7. Is this DX coded?

A: The CineStill Film 50Daylight Xpro C-41 Color Negative Film is non-DX coded.

Q: 8. I used this film with Nikon FM-10 and Sekonic L-308X-U on a daylight, i sat my light meter to 400 ISO, am following the light meter readings and i still getting under exposed images, what u think is my problem. btw sometimes i push my film but i still not satisfied with the results. (**note** camera is in good condition)

A: As mentioned in the 120 version: I've shot this film twice, once at 800 with no push, and second time at 1600 and pushed 2 stops. The second time around I had better results with contrast and the look I was going for. It's a bit trial and error, but I feel 400 is too low. Try shooting at 500 in daylight if you use with a 85 filter as per CineStill, but honesty I think this is better suited at 800 or 1600 ISO.

Q: 9. So, is this actually Kodak Double-X motion picture film? And, is it best processed using D-96 developer? Thanks!

A: As per Cinestill, this film replaces the original Kodak Double X film stock, but for use with 35mm still cameras. They recommend the use of D-96 developer, but you can also use developers like D-76 or HC-110.

Q: 10. Hi my rolls came without the box. May I ask what's the expiry date on this? I had ordered on 27 May

A: The expiration date can be between 6 months up to 1 year from the date of purchase.

[Color Negative] It's film..!! The idea is to go beyond the surface of things.
Most imagery I see becomes gadgetry and pure irrelevance.
A good film camera and this stock will best match your artistic intention.

[C-41] Exactly what I look for in film. Beautiful colors and I love the way it captures soft light. I had a bit of a water leak, and only the first photo in the roll had any damage, I don't know how, but I'm not going to question it. I'm just happy it developed ok! I always need to have a backup of this around.

[36] If you hate halations in your photos - you might not like this film. After using one roll I figured out how to avoid, add, maximize and minimize halations in the photos. I love it.

[35mm] CineStill Film 800Tungsten C-41 has quickly become my go-to for night photography and indoor shoots. The tungsten-balanced color gives my images a distinctive cinematic look, especially under artificial lighting. The 800 ISO is perfect for low-light conditions, allowing for excellent detail and sharpness even in challenging lighting. One of the standout features is how it handles highlights—there’s a unique halation effect that adds a creative flair to the final images. While it might not be the best for daylight shooting without a corrective filter, it truly shines in its intended settings. Highly recommended for those looking to capture moody, atmospheric scenes with a unique film aesthetic!
