SONARWORKS SoundID Reference Calibration Software Microphoneis a calibration plug-in and app delivering consistently accurate studio reference sound on your existing headphones and speakers. SoundID Reference for headphones delivers consistently accurate studio reference sound on more than 400 supported headphones. The software eliminates your speakers' and headphones' sound coloration by setting their frequency response to be completely flat across all audible frequencies, ensuring that every mix translates regardless of the speakers or headphone your audience uses for monitoring. Whether in the comfort of your studio or on the road, you can mix with confidence and make music that sounds great everywhere.

After installing the software you can proceed with your speaker calibration. It takes just 15 minutes to complete the measurement process using a flat-frequency-response microphone such as the SONARWORKS Calibration Measurement Mic (available separately) or any similar mic.

When measurement is completed, save your speaker profile and apply correction using the plug-in in your favorite DAW or use the SoundID Reference system-wide app to correct sound from any source on your computer.

Beside ensuring a neutral sound, SoundID Reference offers other useful features including Custom Target, which allows you to make custom adjustments to the target curve in real time. Translation Check helps you simulate your mix on a plethora of devices such as laptop speakers, phone speakers, car speakers, and more.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this appliance voltage 220V

A: Yes. It runs anywhere between 100v and 240v.

Q: 2. Does this support Mac 10.15 (Catalina)?

A: Hi Carol, Yes, macOS 10.15 Catalina is fully supported :) Best,. Dave

Q: 3. How to use this tool to correct highlights and shadows? I'm using Raw convertor in Photoshop and there is only one eyedropper to check White Balance.Thanks.

A: You can use Adobe Camera Raw to adjust the white balance. After opening the image in Photoshop, use the additional eyedroppers in the Levels tool to adjust for the black, gray and white points.

Q: 4. Will this work with the RANE RE27 RTA EQ system?

A: Yes this or any other RTA mic will work with Rane RE27

Q: 5. Does the RTA mic come with a case?

A: Yes

Q: 6. If I understand, I will have to run the program with each of my lens 9 Nikkor and Tamron G2. Is the camera record and keep in memory the correction result per lens ?

A: Yes. Each lens may have a different optimal AF Fine-tune set point. The last step in the FoCal is to enter the optimal AF-Fine tune number for that particular test. The (Nikon) camera will remember the setting for each lens tested and will automatically load that number when you put the lens on the camera. You can always change it manually, in the camera, for the lens that is on the camera. Test Zoom lenses at different focal lengths. You may have to compromise on the "best" setting since Nikon cameras only store one correction number for each lens.

Q: 7. Can this mount on a video camera?

A: It can if you buy the appropriate hot shoe mount, but I wouldn't recommend it because the sound is weirdd

Q: 8. Will this work with video when shooting in S log3?

A: The SpyderCUBE RAW Calibration Tool would allow for a properly white balance in the camera, particularly for still photography.

Q: 9. Is the focus pyramid compatible with both the Canon 7D Mark ii and 6D Mark ii?

A: It is compatible with both the 6D MK2 and the 7D MK2.

Q: 10. Will it work with a Sony a7ii

A: According to the following page on Reikan's site https://blog.reikanfocal.com/2015/05/reikan-focal-2-test-release-2-now-available/, we should be able to use Reikan Focal Pro in “File Mode” with Sony A7 series files. However, I get an error message saying it is an unsupported camera whenever I try. From the page: “So if you want to calibrate a Sony 70-400 using an LA-EA4 on a Sony A7 camera, or check out the aperture sharpness results for a completely manual vintage Zuiko Jupiter 8 lens, you can do it easily now with File Mode!” Note: I'm using version 2.4 but this was announced in version 2.0

[1 User] It's amazing how much better my headphones sound and the clarity of a mix is with this plugin. I can now hear details I previously hadn't. This is an indispensable part of my setup now.

[Download] Most studios, even with acoustic treatment, will have inconsistencies within the frequency domain caused by furniture reflection, stubborn low-frequency room modes and, in the case of a multichannel setup, slight delays and phase differences between the speakers. Sonarworks corrects for all of it, and allows for plenty of customization according to the engineer's listening preference. The calibration takes about 20min for a stereo set, but the difference is night and day. It will not replace acoustic treatment, but it surely is a big cherry on the cake. Mixes translate more easily, and I don't spend hours checking if a particular resonance or frequency build-up is caused by the room/speakers or by the mix itself.

[Download] Reference has breathed new life into my Sony MDR-V6's which have been faithfully serving me for more than 10 years. The only qualm I've had with the Sony's are an apparent sibilance, even if it can be pleasant at times. Reference improves that problem (including an issue with bass) to flatten the response. This has helped immensely with mixing, but has also made general listening more enjoyable and less fatiguing. SONARWORKS has reviewed lots of headphones and rated them based on their before and after calibration performance, so if you're on the market for new headphones, that might be a good starting point for reference. They also offer an additional service for individual calibration which requires sending your headphones in so they can produce a personal profile for your headphones, as opposed to using the general profiles included with the software (you can also purchase a new pre-calibrated pair from them). That's all of course if you're looking for some kind of edge and really find yourself doing a great deal of work on headphones; it could certainly be worth the extra cost particularly for mastering headphones. Pairing this software with something like CanOpener (to simulate monitor crossfeed) will put you pretty close to a solid monitor mixing environment, so this is incredible software particularly for compact or mobile headphone-centric setups, or as a compliment to a studio setup that utilizes headphones in any critical way. Looking forward to using it with new headphones when the time comes. Highly recommended. Be sure to check the full headphone compatibility list to be sure they at least have a general profile for your particular model.

[Yes] I tried a Dayton EMM-6 with Sonarworks SoundID and just could not get the levels I needed for the calibration, even with full gain on high-end studio preamps. I swapped in the Sonarworks mic and everything just worked. It's a little more money, but does seem to have the higher output that's needed.
