Q: 1. Is the mic input audio carried over the USB output? Or does the USB only carry audio from the HDMI input?

    A: This captures 1080p60fps audio/video via USB.

Q: 2. It appears that this device does not take 4K video from a camera and output to a USB on a computer for streaming/video conferencing. Am I wrong?

A: The unit is rated for 4K video capture and transmittal over USB.

Q: 3. Will this work with an iPhone 12 feeding it HDMI?

A: No, it's not compatible. OS Compatibility: Windows 8.1 Windows 10 Linux 2.6.38 or Later macOS 10.13 or Later

Q: 4. How is the heat with this? Should I add a heat sink on top? I'm only planning to capture in 1080p, not 4k.

A: A heat sink is not required.

Q: 5. Have any of the Pengo capture devices, I see three different models listed for sale on the site, been tested on the new M1 Macs?

A: This Pengo Technology HDMI to USB Type-C 4K Grabber, would work with the M1 Mac computers.

[20 to 90%] what I care the most is its sharp edge, have to be very careful when plug and pull cables from it, you might cut yourself.

[20 to 90%] I'm using this to run a Sony 4K camcorder for streaming and video calls where I needed better resolution and lighting. Works perfectly and allows me to do the same with my laptop when travelling.

[12.4 x 8 x 2.1"] I had to teach online last minute and this was a lifesaver. A different capture card I have has too much lag making my lessons unwatchable. When I used this one there was virtually no lag with a great image.

[12.4 x 8 x 2.1"] I use this video grabber to convert HDMI video and audio output from my Canon XA40 camcorder to USB 3.0 connected to my Windows 10 laptop for Zoom streaming. So far, it has worked great. I have an external mic connected to the XLR input of my camcorder, so the audio is excellent as well as the video coming out of the HDMI camcorder output.

Because I am using this device in a somewhat unique way, I had to come up with my own way of attaching it to my camcorder tripod. The grabber has a rubber padded base, but no standard 1/4-20 UNC threads for mounting to a tripod. I ended up re-purposing a cellphone holder designed to mount on a tripod. I had a clamp I used to attach the holder to a leg of the tripod. It works perfectly!

Another tip! I use gaffer tape to help support the weight of the cables coming out of the camera to this device and an external field monitor I use. This helps take the stress off the plugs going into and out of the camera and attached devices to avoid damage to your expensive equipment.

[2.945 lb] Does all I need it to do

[USB/HDMI] The video grabber is a very clever product. Unlike another popular converter the Video Grabber allows conversion of HDMI to USB (of course) but also allows HDMI pass through and has outlets for audio microphone input and headphone output.
For me it serves the purpose I had hoped very well which is to take the 1080P video output from a D-SLR to my computer for multi-media presentations. I now have the ability to switch from a WebCam, To the D-SLR and to share the presentation screen of the computer file.

[20 to 90%] Just works. Plugged it into USB3, and the HDMI attached camera simply works everywhere I want to use it, like OBS Studio, Zoom, etc...

[20 to 90%] Initial impression is I really like it. It's very nice to check camera feed on big TV before and as it goes out streaming. Spatial and temporal resolution is great. I did notice once during the first Zoom meeting that the HDMI audio died (after muting on Zoom, it wasn't there on un-muting), but I was able to get it back by toggling input on Zoom interface. Not sure yet if that was a Pengo or a Zoom issue though.

[USB/HDMI] I'm using this capture card to process the output of my DSLR for use on Zoom meetings. Setup was seamless, and it works flawlessly with my MacBook Pro and Canon EOS RP. I know there are software workarounds to get the combination to work on Zoom, but the hardware is the quickest to set up and easiest to use.
