System installers in search of a compact, flexible amplifier with Hi-Z and Lo-Z output capabilities should check out the Lab.Gruppen E 5:4, a 1 RU, four-channel 500W amplifier for mixed A/V installation applications. The E 5:4 utilizes IntelliDrive Energy Efficient Amplifier (IDEEA) technology to produce high power levels with very low distortion while drawing minimal mains current.

E-Series amplifiers also utilizes Lab.Gruppen's proprietary Rail Sensing Limiter (RSL) technology, which greatly reduces signal clipping to ensure high-quality audio output all the time. The amplifier is user-configurable for Hi-Z (70/100V) or Lo-Z. The RSL circuit senses rail voltage and optimizes each channel output for instantaneous load conditions. This allows for asymmetrical channel loading for optimized performance and efficiency. Total available output power can be allocated among the channels as required by the application. This makes it possible, for example, to drive a small sub on one channel and several 70/100V ceiling loudspeakers on the other channels.

Two-Channel Amplifier: 4 x 125W    IntelliDrive: 70/100V or 4, 8, 16 Ohms    Energy-Efficient Class-D Amplifier    Asymmetric Channel Loading    Comprehensive Circuit Protection    Rail Sense Limiter (RSL)    Includes Screw Terminal I/O Blocks    Includes Power Cord    Limited 5-Year Warranty

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the canon Rebel Ts1i LP-85 Watson battery be changed in Europe Using Canon battery charger LC-E5? Or Do I need a different adapter/charger? Have regular adapters

A: Yes. The battery will charge using the original canon charger overseas.

Q: 2. Speakers ratings, should I take minimum or peak as reference to match my speakers to an amplifier?

A: You should take both ratings into consideration if they are provided. RMS power ratings provide a better idea of the continuous power that is provided by an amplifier or when an RMS rating is listed for a speaker, it is the amount of continuous power that a speaker can handle. Peak power ratings refer to occasional short bursts of power that an amp can provide or the amount of power in a short burst that a speaker can handle. When only peak power ratings are provided, you can determine the RMS power rating by multiplying peak power x 0.7071. For example, if an amplifier is rated at 800 watts peak power, multiply 800 x 0.7071 which equals 565.68, meaning the amp's RMS power is approximately 566 watts.

Q: 3. Got a pair of yamaha cbr15 inch speakers. Will px5 be suitable for the speakers

A: Yes, the Yamaha PX5 Stereo Power Amplifier is compatible for use with a pair of Yamaha CBR15 Speakers.

Q: 4. Will this battery work in a Canon Rebel Ti1?

A: This battery will work for a Canon T1i.

Q: 5. When an input is set to line does it transmit phantom power? If I use phantom power because I need it for a microphone input will it damage the Denon DN-300ZB that is also plugged into two of the input channels but set to line mode.

A: No, engaging phantom power for microphone input connections on the JBL CSM 28 Eight Inputs/Two Outputs Commercial Series Mixer would not affect a connection from a line level source such as the Denon DN-300ZB Media Player. It should be noted that the phantom power offered from this amplifier is 27VDC as opposed to the more common 48V.

Q: 6. Does this only allow me to send the same input to multiple zones or can I run two separate inputs through this to different speakers in multiple zones? I cant read what the output section says but I see the outputs all have different power considerations

A: You can send only the same mix to different zones although you can selectively turn on and off zones.

Q: 7. Is the bridge mode a method of chaining two or more devices together for multi-room output of the same signal?

A: No. Bridge mode means wiring two amplifiers together to output more power, typically for the purpose of powering speakers that require higher wattage.

Q: 8. Can this amp be used to power MCM 55-10345 tweeter array? These are not powered and can't be heard, or would some other small amp work? Any suggestions. Thanks, EYD.

A: Yes it can.

Q: 9. Does this include the rack brackets with purchase?

A: Yes. The rack mounting kit is included.

Q: 10. Is this battery compatible with the Canon Rebel XSi?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the Canon Rebel XSi.

[> 112 dBA] We've been using the Crown CDi-1000 as the staple of our installs for years and fully agree with the previous review. Great unit!

[2] I took the kb to the gig thinking I'll just XLR to the fronts, btw, the amp has a ballsy output with the line send. Anywho, house guy says "we don't pump anything through the fronts. Cool. I used one 12" speaker and that Hartke, and sounded well baqlanced throughout the hall.Wow.I didn't think I'd get the clarity, but aluminum cones, yup, this is a keeper.

[> 70 dB ] I'm tired of hauling around my bigger 4x10 and 2x15 cabinets and Ampeg head. This combo is fantastic as far as sound power, tone and ability to plug directly into the house system. At 28lbs, it a dream come true.

[2] Amazing flexibility. I'm using a single CDI 1000 amp to run a string mono of 70v outdoor speakers AND a massive outdoor 8ohm sub. Plenty of power but the magic is in the DSP chip that allows you to EQ and cross over the amp however you desire. When I first installed, the default internal crossovers were used and then I hooked up a laptop with the free Crown System Architect Software and then--WOW. After every thing was EQ'd and the crossover tweaked it's like listening to live outdoor music which is exaxtly what I was going for. *Note that the amp is designed to use balanced XLR inputs so you will lose 6db with an unbalanced RCA siganl or you can use a Pro Match to convert RCA--XLR and regain full output*

[2] I've installed 4 of these units on 2 softball field press boxes and for a boot camp and archery range on a university campus for announcements and background music. I paired them with some jbl outdoor speakers 8 and 12 version and it is a wonderful setup. both owners are in love with them. they were producing absolutely NO hiss whatsoever. very very good amp.

[1 RU] Replaced an older Peavey 1.3K amp that finally failed. This amp is half the size and easily 1/4th the weight. It was very easy to set up, plenty of documentation on Yamaha and Youtube videos on how to set it up. I had it up and running in a few minutes, had to adjust my mixer for it and change some cabling because of newer connection types. I have four 8ohm speakers, two on channel 1 and two on channel 2, running in stereo and we are roughly at 40% power and the system sounds great. Plenty of room to expand if we ever need to and can go higher now. I was worried about the digital technology and different cabling, but it worked just fine and cables are available to make upgrades/changes if you have an older system.

[1 W (Standby) ] The kickback- what an unbelievable amp. This thing put out like a teenager on prom night. I have used a Hartke 3500 for 19 years, traded it in and got another one, so I had no problem buying a Hartke. The new 3500 has 3-4 years on it, and is also cool. Those Hartke folks know how to build amps. The KB is a 12, and I was frankly surprised at what that baby can do. I used it for a gig, 3 piece band, plenty. I've also used it in church. Plenty. Just stick an XLR into it, send it out front, the soundman loves it.Not crazy about the filter thing, prefer running it with tone controls only, but that's up to the player. I like simplicity. If you want one, get it. No regrets.
