The Grace Design m108 8-Channel Mic Preamp ADC Upgrade Kitis a rack-mountable eight-channel preamplifier and ADC providing connection points for eight microphones on the rear panel, as well as two Hi-Z instrument inputs on the front. With this unit, you can either achieve analog amplification through its transformerless, transimpedance design, or utilize its on-board conversion stages to route signal into your DAW in a variety of digital output formats, including AES, ADAT, and USB. The unit is also remote-controllable, able to receive commands from Grace's m802 remote control unit or Pro Tools via on-board 485/422 serial / MIDI ports.

Its push-button rotary knob handles the navigating and instantiation of various operations, though dedicated push-buttons are assigned for essential needs, such as 48V phantom power switching, phase reversal, channel grouping, and clearing peaks on the meter. A headphone output with integrated headphone amplifier allows for low-latency monitoring of assignable channel pairs, or for listening to USB playback from a source-computer.

The m108 features word clock I/Os and optional expansion slots to interface with Dante networks. Furthermore, this device is compatible with m802s, so you integrate this unit into any existing m802 system

Q: 5. Are these $100 better than the HD600s?

A: I will address some of these questions I see here. Some posters would have you waiting forever for a price drop. I haven't listened to the HD600s. I find the HD650S well worth the money. I find them comfortable to wear and I have a big head. The sound is superior to the HD598s which I do own. The one drawback to the 650's is that the cord is long and bulky. You will also need an adapter to use them on a phone or tablet. This would also apply to the HD600s as well. To me either these headphones are in your price range or they are not. If not look elsewhere for cheaper.

A: Hello,This is an 8 channel preamp that you can connect to an interface via ADAT (Optical)

Q: 10. Made in China or Germany?

A: The Sennheiser HD 650 was manufactured in Romania.

[0.465 lb] I use this preamp for most tracks. Its very clean as a DI. There is nothing I can say negative about it.

[0.465 lb] this is the best preamp value on the market that ive found.....used a avalon in a friends studio, and owned a ua la-610 in my own studio....both of these preamps are 1500 dollars or more, and are not as clean and crisp sounding as the grace designs preamp....and where other preamps take a degree to figure out how they work, and take a LONG TIME to get set to prefrence, this little gem is SIMPLE and very EASY to fine tune....for under seven hundred dollars, this is a professional preamp needed to make the leap from home studio to professional turnkey studio, and buy it from BHPHOTO, they are the best

[0.465 lb] Best pre I've seen for the money. Nice and warm and clean tone. Perfect for vocals. I found when you push the gain, it get's a rich distortion which makes for meaty guitar overdrive.

[0.465 lb] I have been using the M101 for a few months now and I love it. I use it anywhere I need a crisp and clean signal (metal kick, acoustic guitar) However, you better brush up on your mic placement techniques because what you put in this box comes back out just the sameonly louder. Some have complained that the sound coming from this box is sterile but I would chalk that up to poor mics or poor mic placement. (user error!) My favorite use for the 101 is as a bass DI. The instrument input on the front is perfectly tuned for non active pickups. The sound is simply amazing. This little box is definitely worth the price. Jason

[0.465 lb] I am well pleased with the Grace Design m101 mic preamp. I recorded vocals & guitar using the AKG C3000 through the Grace Design m101 then into my Apogee A/D converters. WOW! The m101 is certainly the most transparent mic preamp, in the price range, that I have heard. The signal to noise ratio on this unit is extremely high. I did a recording in a noisy room, using the microphone close to sound source and the recorded signal had very little ambient noise. Moreover, the signal that I captured through m101 sounded clean and full. It accurately represented the sound source.

[0.465 lb] I was using a Mackie 800R into a Digi003 to record before buying the Grace M101. I mostly record acoustic guitar tracks. The difference is dramatic. I get a very open spacious detailed sound with the Grace compared to the Mackie. It's well worth the price. The criticism i've heard is that the Grace is extremely accurate and doesn't color the sound in the way the other pre's can. This is exactly what I wanted So I'm very pleased.

[0.465 lb] All of the equipment and software I have purchased I never woke up to learning how much difference a pre-amp at this level makes. Instruments: Bass guitar, lead guitar, acoustic guitar - it is amazing the fullness it pulls out of these instruments, and that is fullness with headroom. A great addition for voiceovers. Now on the microphones: tested on our condenser mics (Schoeps and AT 4053b) and our Dynamic (Beyerdynamic, Shure) mics. It is hard to put into words the differences. Present system: ProTools, Focusrite Saffire 56, ArtPro Channel pre's, Presonus pre's. This is a game changer investment. Spend it here before you drop the extra $ on the mic.

[0.465 lb] The grace design m101 is very much like what you will read about it, clean and detailed. I compared this to the onboard preamps in my Presonus studio live mixer which are also very clean and the grace design had much more body and detail. I tried it with a Shure SM7b and it really brought out the inherent characteristics of the mic. When I plugged my guitar into the HiZ input i could hear all the subtle details of the pickups. I like it a lot.
