This 62mmB+W 495/022 Yellow MRC Basic Filter 62mmfrom B+W 495/022 Yellow MRC Basic Filter 62mmcan be used to increase image contrast when using black-and-white film. When using this filter, blue and green subjects are rendered in darker shades of gray while yellows, reds, and other warm tones are lightened, producing a more natural-looking outdoor look. This filter can also minimize the haze caused by the bluish cast of daylight.

B+W MRC Basic filters are made with the exclusive Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) nano premium coating technology. This high-quality broadband coating is applied on both sides and enhances the optical imaging properties, allowing uniform and increased transmittance across the entire light spectrum to be achieved, with minimal physically induced remaining reflection. The nano all-around protection on the filter glass also ensures increased scratch resistance and extremely fast, easy cleaning, providing a long filter life. The slim filter ring design is compatible with wide-angle lenses with an equivalent width of a 17mm full-frame lens. The top knurling is redesigned for enhanced gripping.

Q: 1. Difference between this polarizer and the high transmission version?

A: B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter has the nano coating that beads water and makes it easier to clean and also protects the filter against scratches. The basic filter does not have that. The high transmission filter also allows more light to reach the camera than the basic version. The high transmission polarizer filter is also equipped with a grease-free rotating device for smoother rotation.

[62 mm] Nice filter for B+W photography. In yee olden days this filter would be used to allow film to see the sky muh like you do naturally. Does the same today if you are shooting Black + White pictures with film or digital cameras (Monochrom). I use them instead of UV when outdoors with my Monochrom cameras. Overall this brand seems to be consisteent quality.

[Brass] I shoot 35mm black and white and color film, and the 35mm f/2 lens is my standard lens. So this filter comes on and off my 35mm lens whenever I change film stocks. The filter frame is wide, with knurling, so the filter is easy to hold onto, and the brass threads give a positive click when they line up with the lead in on the lens threads. This makes the filter easy to install, even while the camera is around your neck. Then there is contrast, the contrast on Tri-X 400 is what I would expect from a filter described as a Wratten #8. I will be getting the orange and red, maybe even the dark red as well for my to trip to Albuquerque/Los Alamos NM, for both my 35mm and my 135mm lenses.

[0.12 lb] I've always liked B+W filters — the brass ring in particular is really nice, no binding or jamming up. And the coating layers look to be really effective.

[0.12 lb] I've been a fan of B&W filters for a long time, and this one is no different. Solidly made with perfectly clear glass, it's good protection for the front element of my newest lens without giving me any concern for distortion. I go back to B&W again and again, knowing they manufacture their filters to the highest standards. They may cost a few bucks more than their competitors, but they're worth it!

[0.12 lb] The B+W MRC BASIC 007 Clear Filter does what it's supposed to do. It provides crystal clear protection for the lens it's attached to. The brass ring won't bind. I've used B+W filters for years and have never had an issue ... top quality at a reasonable price!.

[62 mm] Maybe not up there with Leica, but certainly on a par with Heliopan, which for some reason is way over-priced in the US. Hoya MC is a better deal, but not available in lots of sizes, such as 43mm
