The aperture does not stop down like in an auto exposure lens. This is a fully manually exposure lens, so the aperture only changes when you change the aperture ring.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens is designed for mounting the PL-mount Laowa probe lens on a Super 35/APS-C L-mount camera body. This does not mean you can't try to use it with other lenses but it has not been tested to do such and there is no compatibility chart for the adapter.

While it's possible that you may get it to work to your satisfaction with other lenses, we cannot endorse their use as damage to the optical element in the focal reducer could result. The major concern has to do with an invasive rear element in the PL lens coming in contact with the element in the focal reducer. [50mm] The lens is actually much larger and different than the one shown in the image. Roughly 1in diameter at its largest, and roughly 2in long. Fits with the 12mm screw mounts found on most board cameras. I am using this lens to help capture images of vehicles that leave my cul-de-sac as protection for our neighborhood. So far, I've had decent success at reading licence plates during the day-time after the image was recorded to a DVR. Vehicles are roughly 150ft away from the camera. I've not tested if the lens works well in IR light or not. The lens and camera easily fit inside an electrical junction box, shooting though the hole of a knockout in the Jbox. 5

[f/1.8] This lens is great if you need a wide angle with superb light sensitivity for an extremely affordable price ! Sure its build quality can not match more expensive lenses. But it gets the job done and pretty well at that! Even nice for macro! If the camera is more than 1.3 megapixel this lens might not be ideal! I used it for machine vision applications. 5

[f/1.8] I bought this lens to use with a In-line process camera for my laser processing work station. This fixed focal length long focal length lens worked perfectly and I was able to zoom the work area with a clear image. I recommend this product srongly for imaging where the working distance is a constraint. 5

[13.1mm] The 4MM lens gives a better view than the 8MM. I'm using the Arecont Vision AV20275DL to get a 180 view of areas of a park. The smaller lens gives up distance for a better wider viewing angle. I've tested the 2.8, 4, 6 and 8mm, the 4mm seems to be the sweet spot. These are OEM lenses and worked perfectly as a substitution for the 8MM. 5

[C] This 23FM25SP lens can even be used on 1 CCDs with a little dark vignetting at the corners. If you don't mind paying almost twice as much for a much bigger 25mm f/1.4 lens, you would do better with the 2/3 25mm f/1.4 Fujinon HF25SA-1, but otherwise the 23FM25SP is a great compact lens, superior to the cheaper M118FM25 and 23FM25L Tamron lenses. 5
