The brown 4488 CORE Directional Miniature Microphone with Boom for Headset from DPA 4488 CORE Miniature Microphone with Boom Headsetis a lightweight cardioid microphone with an adjustable boom mechanism designed for use with DPA headsets. The DPA 4488 and 4466 headset mics are modular and use the same headset design, allowing you to substitute the original boom mechanism and microphone for one featuring a different pickup pattern. This allows the user of a 4466 headset to swap out that model's omnidirectional headset for this 4488 directional (cardioid) version—saving you the expense of purchasing an entirely new headset.

The cardioid polar pattern in the 4488 focuses audio capture on the speaker at the microphone, picking up less background sound and helping to control feedback issues in high-SPL situations where sound reinforcement equipment is used. The 2-way adjustable boom system—length and height—features an anti-rotate mechanism that makes it easy to position the tiny 5mm mic capsule for optimal sound quality. A sliding lock mechanism secures the boom positioning.

DPA's CORE technology is at the heart of the electret-condenser capsule, providing an ultralow noise floor and wide dynamic range. With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters to deliver clean, transparent, and reliable sound for critical performances and presentations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What adapter is needed to connect this to a Motu or Focus Rite interface

A: Seenheiser HDM 300 is a 4 pin XLR connection we dont have an adapter to make this work with an audio interface since this is a 4 pin XLR it wont work.

Q: 2. Dynamic or Condenser?

A: The Samson HS5 Headset Microphone uses a condenser type element.

Q: 3. What is the inside diameter of the hole through the counterweight or equivalently the outside diameter of the boom arm this is designed to slide over ?

A: The K&M 21105 Counter Weight is designed for use on one-piece K&M boom arms with a 3/8" male thread or a tube diameter 0.6" (15mm). The Counter Weight itself is made of steel, has a height of 2.36" (60mm), a diameter of 1.97" (50mm), and weighs 28.2 oz. (0.8 kg).

Q: 4. Does the joint at the mic maintain it's angle as you move the boom arm? Or do you have to reposition the mic each time the boom arm is moved?

A: The action of the spring inside the arm maintains a proportionate angle between the bottom and middle joints. Due to the nature of the spring-loaded arm, the joints do not naturally move independently of each other. It is however possible to keep the arm steady during adjustment without too much difficulty, and each joint can be manually adjusted if the opposite section is held in place with your other hand.

Q: 5. diameter of pole for clamping?

A: The very top section is 3/4. the next section down is 7/8, and the bottom section is 1

Q: 6. Hello! With this microphone amplifier, will I still need phantom power to connect a condenser microphone to a camera like the Sony A7SIII, or a recorder like the Atomos Ninja V? If so, what do you recommend?

A: This amplifier is designed to work with the Shoeps MK series capsules, and will still require phantom power to run.

Q: 7. Will this pole work with the Azden SGM - 1X?

A: This pole includes a standard 5/8 -27 male thread adapter with 3/8 -16 internal threads at the top pf the pole. The Azden microphone includes an integrated Shockmount (Attaches Microphone Stand female threaded 5/8 -27 )

Q: 8. Can I use two K&M 21105 counterweights on the same boom arm? Is there a hole at both ends to allow for this?

A: yes. I am using 2 on one arm. and there is another trick. if your arms are just a bit thick, you can pop out the plastic liner. I like these, it's hard to find good counterweights these days.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Samson Meteor Mic USB Studio Microphone?

A: Yes, the Samson Meteor Mic can be mounted on the MBA28 Microphone Boom Arm. The thread size on the mic is 5/8" which is the same as the thread on the MBA28.

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the flange mount?

A: We have requested this information from the manufacturer but accurate measurements are not readily available. We will post the details once we receive them.

[Plug-In Power] sounds amazing

[Cardioid] It’s hard to find many reviews of headset mics, but I have to say that all the positive things I heard about the DPA d:fine line are true. The 4188 sounds amazing and especially compared the Crown CM311 and the cheaper Shure WH20 models I’ve owned. The CM311 was so uncomfortable and cumbersome and I could never dial in my sound to get close to studio quality. This is the first time I’ve actually been happy with the sound and feels like it rivals my studio mics. Love the light weight and inconspicuous appearance. I got the 120mm boom and was worried about the length but it turned out to be perfect for getting the mic to the corner of my mouth.

[Cardioid] The sound is both fat and loud; really nice. This mic replaced the Sennheiser MKE2, which was quieter and thinner. Though the DPA 4080's sound is really full, the speech intelligibility is superb. The spoken word is distinct and clear. Used in a Baptist church with a Sennheiser lapel (EW 112p G4) microphone. If you want pro quality sound for your sermon, get this mic.

[Plug-In Power] I owned DPA 4099, AMT and many other mic. But this is the best sounding, so light that you don't even feel that there is a mic attached to your instrument. Strongly recommend it!

[Plug-In Power] Did you know that the Mars Rover has a DPA (Danish Professional Audio) microphone built into it? The 4097 is a high SPL mic that is used by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Faith Presbyterian Church in Sacramento. You can't find a better mic for this purpose.
