[5/8"-27] I understand all the hype around this mic. The M49V has an authoritative low end without being boxy or boomy. It's articulate in the mids and upper mids (Where I REALLY need the help), without any shrillness or shimmery tinfoil sound at the top. I love this mic :)

[5/8"-27] I do not own one of these...yet. But I have rented one for the last two months, and I absolutely love it. I've used it primarily on acoustic guitar and male vocals, while recording a traditional Celtic music band. It makes the guitar sound great, big and exquisite. It has perfect reproduction through the frequency spectrum. I see no need for any EQ at all on tracks recorded with it. On vocals, it is less astounding, just because a voice doesn't have the frequency range of a guitar, but still on this particular vocalist, it's still very good. I wish I had several of them.

[5/8"-27] LA Guitar Quartet brought these for their show. I was amazed at how easy it was to get their sound through the PA( Allen&Heath GL2400 mixer, QSC amps, JBL speakers). The sound can best be described as the LA Guitar Quartet only louder. Whish I had some for my own studio.

[5/8"-27] We use this mic for most of our interviews. If you can only afford one mic, I would buy this before a shotgun or lav. You will need to buy a blimp to use this outside as it is very sensitive to wind. We use the small cyclone.

[5/8"-27] I generally use these for classical vocal ensembles and chamber music. They are very responsive and handle the highs of a soaring soprano line very well. I never have to worry about the sound being distorted.

[5/8"-27] I am using this mic for a home recording studio, for live trumpet. The sound is great, and the mic isolates well from the rest of the room and can handle the directional decibels of the instrument. Solid construction and super sound.

[5/8"-27] This mic is amazing in vocals. It has a balanced sound with deep low end and controlled silky highs. It works very fine even in acoustic guitars. Im impressed with the quality of the low frequencies, regardless, in the paper its characteristics are brilliant. Im very satisfied with the results when its connected through my avalon 737sp. Neumann is always guaranteed quality.

[5/8"-27] So much better than a Peluso, Chinese made shock mount. As crazy as it sounds I loved the sound the Peluso 2247 had but a crooked badly threaded (milled) shock mount turned me off and made me go for quality in every part of a mic setup. Nueman equipment is amazing. They care about quality and precision. Worth the money. To know that something you invest in will last is huge these days, where more and more are spending to save a buck, but usually end up having to deal with more repairs, returns or resales. This mount is made for a king. Keep it up Neumann. You've got my vote for more purchases.
