Compared to the Discrete 8 Synergy Core, the Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core delivers improved performance with greater dynamic range, less total harmonic distortion and noise, and double the available channel strips for effects processing. Also, it replaces Thunderbolt 2 connectivity with Thunderbolt 3 (in addition to USB 2.0).

The Discrete 8 Pro has been upgraded with studio-ready 192 kHz converters (up to 130 dB of headroom) and Antelope Audio's proprietary 64-bit AFC clocking. With the interface in your rack, you can experience a new level of detail in your recordings and enjoy a wider soundstage for an exceptional stereo image in audio playback.

Antelope Audio's discrete preamp topology is a descendant of the great console preamps of the time. Designed using a combination of transistors, the Discrete preamps result in high gain (up to 65 dB), minimal noise, and precise sound capture for pristine, transparent recordings.

The Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core offers impressive analog and digital I/O in one rack space. Eight mic/line inputs, two instrument inputs, eight DC-coupled line outputs on a DB25 connector, two reamp outputs, a pair of monitor outputs, two headphone outputs, plus 16-channel ADAT and stereo S/PDIF I/O are at your disposal. For your computer connection, you have USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3 ports. All I/O is available at any time and can be used simultaneously without the need to change setups, making it easy to work on multiple sessions.

Plug in your guitar directly to one of the two Hi-Z enabled inputs and instantly sculpt your tone with guitar amps and cabinet models. Add compression, EQ, and AuraVerb while playing through your preferred amp, cabinet, and microphone combination. The Discrete 8 Pro's two reamp outputs allow you to connect any of your effect pedals or outboard gear, and record that sound back into your preferred DAW.

Three wordclock outputs let you distribute the interface's highly stable clock signal across your studio while the wordclock input allows you to sync the Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core with other gear.

A virtual routing patch-bay on the Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core streamlines the routing process and even adds creative possibilities. Apart from the intuitive routing, the software control panel allows you to create presets, quickly configure mixes, and more. With the enhanced processing, you can add effects on every input source.

The 37 effects included with Discrete 8 Pro are modeled after iconic studio equipment and can be applied in real time during monitoring, postproduction, and live recording. Aside from the exclusive compressors, EQs, and preamps, the interface comes with 22 guitar amps and cabs, a guitar tuner, and a signature reverb that are processed with near-zero latency entirely inside the interface, putting zero load on your host CPU.

The onboard Synergy Core contains the processing power of a complex multi-rack setup which enables you to load effects on up to 16 channel strips (double the available channel strips compared to the original Discrete 8 Synergy Core). At any time, you can expand your effects collection by purchasing more classic go-to units, true rarities never before recreated in digital form, and 3rd party effects like Antares Auto-Tune Synergy.

For every individual recording scenario, you can save session files and create exact snapshots of your effects chains, so you can load them later without losing your progress.

The interface's Modeling Engine is ready to be paired with the Edge line of microphones (available separately) for real-time use of vintage microphone emulations.

  • Direct hardware monitoring with Synergy Core effects processed in real time with imperceptible latency
  • Expanded routing capabilities—switch audio sources per channel based on a drop-down menu sequence or make use of a virtual routing matrix
  • Customizable presets complete with signal routing, level adjustments, mixer settings, and submixes
  • Front panel with independent headphone and monitor volume knobs and buttons for sample rate configuration, and hands-on control of core parameters
  • Hardware relay-based gain knobs for each preamp plus mode control (mic / line / Hi-Z) via push sequence
  • Supports standalone operation
  • Wireless control of software features from a separate computer connected to the same network
  • Footswitch input supports functionality as a single footswitch to control the dim function and as a dual footswitch to control both the talkback and dim functions

The collection of 37 Synergy Core effects is powered by the Synergy Core proprietary onboard platform, which uses two DSP chips and one FPGA chip for real-time effects processing with imperceptible latency.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a mid 2011 Mac mini. Can this Interface work with this computer given the particular adapter?

A: Your 2011 Mac Mini may not be compatible for use with the Antelope Zen Go Synergy Core. Here are the system requirements for Mac that are listed in the user manual:: •Apple Mac 2012 or newer with USB 2.0/3.0/3.1 port (native or using an adapter) •Minimum: Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra / Recommended: Mac OS X 11.02 Big Sur •Available storage space (Minimum 4 GB) •Memory (RAM): 4 GB minimum (8 GB or more recommended)

Q: 2. Is The Zen Go compatible with iOS devices?

A: No, the Zen Go Synergy Core is not compatible with iOS devices. It is designed for use with Mac and Windows computers. However, its core functionalities can be used without a computer and it can be powered by a USB charger or power bank (the same type that you would use to charge a mobile phone or tablet).

Q: 3. Does the Zen Go work with iOS devices?

A: No this is for Mac or PCs with a USB-C connection.

Q: 4. What does Discrete ultra-linear preamps mean or do can this cancel out background noise pick up?

A: "Discrete" means that the preamps are made up of individually crafted components, and "linear" means that they amplify the signal at a fixed ratio. Neither of these terms entail any type of noise cancellation, which is not a normal function of microphone preamps. The Antelope Zen Tour Synergy Core Desktop Audio Interface is able to run real-time audio effects, some of which (filters and noise gate) can be used to mitigate background noise.

Q: 5. Will this work with old record players that need pre-amps to operate?

A: No the Antelope Zen Go Synergy Core Desktop 4x8 USB Type-C Audio Interface BH #ANZGSC is UB audio interface and does not have a phono preamp built in.

Q: 6. Approximately how much power willl this provide to my Beyerdynamic Dt 1990 pro 250 ohm headphones in watts and milliwatts? Is the interface enough power alone with out an after market headphone amp?

A: I contacted technical support at Antelope directly and while they do not have a specification for the power of the headphone output on the Zen Q Synergy Core Desktop 14x10 Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface, they did tell me that they had previously tested this interface with different 250 ohm headphones and felt that the volume level was sufficient for general monitoring purposes. However, what each person considers sufficient volume is subjective and what works for one person may not work well for another person. If you will want to have high volume or very strong bass, then you will most likely want to use a separate headphone amp with the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones.

Q: 7. Hey! This product is new? Or it's has been used before?

A: The Antelope Zen Q Synergy Core Desktop 14x10 USB Type-C Audio Interface is brand new.

Q: 8. When recording 32 tracks via a DAW with TB3, can a second Daw be connected to run a backup recording?

A: No this can only be connected to one computer at a time.

Q: 9. Does the Zen go has talk back function?

A: No, the Zen Go does not have a talkback feature like you would have in a recording studio to communicate between the control room and the live studio. It does have two independently adjustable headphone outputs as well as mirrored monitor outputs that allow you to listen to the audio while recording.

Q: 10. Can this interface do the same processing internally like a DBX 286s does for compressor, de-esser, gating, etc?

A: Yes but it does not work the same way as a dbx 286s. The Zen Go Synergy Core Desktop 4x8 USB Type-C Audio Interface uses software and digital signal processing to achieve those functions and is made primarily for recording applications. The dbx 286s does not and is used primarily for live sound applications.

[9.085 lb] I was looking for a high end bus powered interface that would be usable with both Mac and PC. My previous interface did not work great with windows machine because of the thunderbolt connection. When I saw the Antelope was releasing a budget-friendly version of their Zen live, I had to give it a try. The build quality is amazing but thee sound is even better, I'm very happy with my decision. Antelope all the way.

[2x (Talkback)] Antelope really nailed it with the Zango. It's so compact and portable but packed with high end A/D converters and effects. Great for use as a mic preamp for live streaming/zoom calls and then of course shines a digital audio interface for music production.

The only thing I wish it had is adat compatibility to expand its input channels more than only 2 additional via spdif.

[8] I love this thing! Set-up was fairly easy, it sounds great and the included inboard processing and effects are really good. I am just getting into some minor viice over production and hopefully some music. I was really happy to get the free plugin bundle which is being offered until September 2021! Not to mention the zero or nearly zero latency really helps with recording and the easy set up with Windows for the loopback function has helped me step up my video streaming capabilities. Happy Customer here.

[8] I like this interface for how it has changed my recordings. I upgraded from the Behringer umc404hd which was good but the Zen Go is truly a turning point especially with the included FX plugins and I am fortunate to be gifted one style FX bundle as part of their offer for purchases made between May 1st and June 20th 2021. I strongly recommend this interface to anyone who needs to dip a toe into DSP-enabled audio interfaces and who are mobile.
