Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the tally light boxes PoE?

A: No they are not.

Q: 2. I see it works with ATEM mini pro. Is it safe to assume it works with Mini Extreme?

A: Yes, Both the Atem Mini and the Extreme switcher models from Black Magic would support the Cerevo FlexTally Wireless Tally Lamp System.

Q: 3. How many channels of audio does this support?

A: SHV+ supports "8 Channels for SDI Embedded Audio" and "2 channels for Ext. Audio out".

Q: 4. How can I connect it to the Roland V-60HD? Via RS232? LAN? Thank you!

A: The Cerevo FlexTally Wireless Tally Lamp System connects to the Roland V-60HD via GPIO only.

Q: 5. Is the base unit rack mountable?

A: no the base unit is NOT rack mountable

Q: 6. Is there a way to get this working with OBS? Also since the Marshall VMV 402 has a serial tally interface, would that work with this system as well?

A: At this time it does not support OBS. Since OBS is an open source platform it is possible for someone with coding experience to develop something to make it work but at this time there is no turn key or easy solution to get this product to work with OBS. In regards to the Marshall Camera this bypasses the need to use Marshall's interface. The Cerevo replaces Marshall's Tally system instead of working with it. It is worth noting that the Flextally is compatible with VMix. Vmix is a software switcher that is extremely similar to OBS. They have a free trail available on their website if you want to test it out. We have it available for purchase with various configurations if you are interested. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Shop-by-Brand-vMix/ci/4/phd/3841605738/N/4294255798?filters=fct_category%3Aswitcher_software_23908

Q: 7. Do these come with cold shoe mounts, or do I need to buy them separately?

A: Because everyone's needs are different, some accessories are optional so people are not left with gear they cannot use. Here are tow possible solutions. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/860269-REG/Revo_sa_cs_14m_Hot_Shoe_to_1_4.html?sts=pi&pim=Y and https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1449290-REG/smallrig_1_4_camera_hot_shoe.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 8. Has anybody set these up with a PC initially and then just used a ATEM Mini with a Mac for actual production?

A: The Cerevo FlexTally Wireless Tally Lamp System is compatible with the ATEM Mini Pro line of switchers.

Q: 9. What is the range on the wireless? Line of sight only?

A: According to Cerevo the wireless connection uses the 433MHz band, which is resistant to obstacles and interference from other wireless signals. It is not just a direct line of sight and it has a range up to 100m or 328 feet.

Q: 10. Does this device work with roland v1_hd +? How are they connected?

A: The Roland V-1HD+ is not in the compatibility list yet but based on their information for the V-1HD, you will need to use the USB out into a conveter called USB-GPIO Converter for FlexTally. You can find this converter in their site.

[0.525 lb] This is the second of this set of wireless tallies we purchased. We have been very happy with the first set and the ease of which to integrate a second set was amazing.

It did help to have the first with switcher to mimic the GPIO crossover, but worth the investment.

[0.525 lb] I own a couple of these and they are great devices overall. Along with the conversion I also use them as kind of a kick cable tester. The signal strength indicator often clues me in on whether or not my cable has some kind of problem.

Someone else here said the converter can not do 1080p60 but I am using it with that resolution all the time out of a Roland VR-50HDMKII video switcher. Never had a problem with any output resolution.

One big note on this converter. It can ONLY do 3G-SDI Level A. It does not work with Level B. Otherwise these units have been no problem at all in the field.

Someone else came up with the idea to put a little plexiglass cover on the top to protect the built in monitor. I thought that was a great idea and have done that for my units.

[0.525 lb] Bought this because we have an older computer with VGA outputs and we need a specific resolution at our video mixer. So, for us we have a format converter and a scaler in one unit. Makes installing the system less complicated. Also, when we upgrade the computer, we can switch it to use the HDMI input.

[0.525 lb] So far so Good! While I'm a big fan of Aja mini converters. This is slightly more affordable then Aja and as a bonus has a screen to preview your video source. I got this to use with a GoPro Hero4. I do a lot of corporate AV work.
