Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this product refurbished

A: No. This is a brand new product. All products purchased from B&H are brand new in the original factory box including packaging, all factory included accessories and factory warranty, unless otherwise stated to be USED, Refurbished, Open Box, or Demo.

Q: 2. Will the USB and XLR work simultaneously? For example, is it possible to use the USB and headphones for an online interview, while also recording a WAV via XLR?

A: Yes, the Shure MV7 does allow you to record audio from the USB and XLR outputs at the same time.

Q: 3. ...can I use 2 Shure MV7 on 1 computer connected via USB at the same time?

A: The computer will only recognize one USB mic. Since the MV7 provides both USB and XLR output, you can use a USB audio interface with two XLR mic inputs. The interface would then connect to the computer via USB enabling use of both mics at the same time.

Q: 4. Given the phone is bluetooth capable, will I be able to use "any" headphones that are also bluetooth capable such as my Beats headphones?

A: Yes, Bluetooth is a universal communication protocol for these types of devices.

Q: 5. I'm a deposition court reporter who is now being asked to work from home. I see that it's capable up to a 5 way call. Does that mean the phone will only accommodate 5 people calling into it on my telephone line? Say I have say 7 attorneys and a deponent calling in for a deposition, will this phone be able to accommodate that many participants?

A: This would only accommodate 5 callers, it would not work for 7 attorneys plus 1 more calling in. For your case I would suggest a 10 caller option https://bhpho.to/3b3JZ59

Q: 6. Does this come with a tripod?

A: The Shure MV7 microphone does not come with a tripod.

Q: 7. Will this mount handle the largest of the iPhone Specs?

A: The width of the widest iPhone currently is 3.07 inches and the Ziv Phone and GoPro Mount Kit is compatible.

Q: 8. If I want to use the MV7 with the Zoom H6 would I need a cloudlifter?

A: A Cloudlifter is recommended, as this Mic has low sensitivity and requires a lot of gain, which may increase noise. It does depend on the Mic Pre; see below. At a sensitivity of -55 dBv, the Shure MV7 would require 55dB of gain to achieve the same level as what is "heard" by MV7 diaphram. As an example, a Focusrite Solo has Mic Pre gain of: "Up to" +56 dB this means the Mic Pre Gain would have to be fully cranked to achieve unity gain. Please note that the higher the negative dBV, the lower the sensitivity. That is, a mic with a sensitivity of -56dBV is less sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -38dBV, but more sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -65dBV. A more logical way to look at it is to think about how much gain will be required to amplify the test signal up to a level of one volt (One Volt is the "Unity Gain" number), the level as supplied "Into" the microphone.

Q: 9. What are the benefits of connecting it via XLR (to an audio interface) vs connecting it to the computer via USB?

A: Using the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone's XLR output connection allows for customizing your signal chain for use with an interface of your choice and a clean recording of the microphone's audio signal. The advantage of the USB connection is the elimination of an external interface and direct connection to a computer for recording.

Q: 10. I use at home a regular phone connected to Magic Jack subscription.I'd like to know:- Is it possible to replace my current phone with a phone like Cisco 8845 IP Phone? Thanks!

A: IP Phones require a specialized server to run them.

[1.81 lb] im a musician and this is a great mic for recording, podcasts, and video content! the mic is great quality with no feedback and warmth, the red outside layer gives it an even better filter to the sound. if you dont want to invest in a mic that needs an interface def get this one. you can also connect to your phone!

[USB] Okay, for starters, this microphone sounds great and seems to record all the frequencies of the human voice. I believe it can record your music performances as well, but since I am interested in recording people's voices, this is what I am going to focus on in my review here.

I love the fact that in order to record high-quality sound, there's no need to place this microphone too close to the person who is speaking, so you can have it outside the frame during your Youtube videos or Zoom calls. However, it will also record all noises in your apparent/studio, so the air conditioner must be off 100%.

A gain control nob allows adjusting the sensitivity of the microphone based on the volume of the speaker's voice or the distance between the mic and the person who is speaking. The same nub can be used to adjust the volume of your headphones, which I found very convenient.

Another great feature that I love is its versatility. The recording patten of this microphone can be changed between cardioid and omnidirectional, which allows using Joby to record multiple people's discussions. This fact alone can be a huge benefit and money saver.

In addition, Joby microphone is built very nicely and looks great on camera. It may be a valuable point for those who are interested in recording on-camera interviews and podcasts. A matte finish helps to avoid fingerprints and makes this microphone look very stylish.

To sum up, I absolutely love this mic, because 1) it records great sound; 2) it's very quick and easy to set up; 3) it doesn't require any additional equipment and cables, just your computer; 4) it can be used in multiple different scenarios (VO, one person interview, 2 people podcast, multiple people discussion) 5) it's affordable since for it cost you are pretty much getting your own professional sound studio.

The only thing, I wish I could use it with my phone as well.

[USB] The Polycom Trio 8800 is by far the best add on to a home and business conferencing setup. It gives you the flexibility of connecting to a computer for a plug and play experience or configuring advanced features such as SIP for dialing into meetings. I use Zoom with a SIP setup and they seamlessly integrate dialing up via SIP and using my computer’s video camera.

[Silver] Used this for a elevator camera conversion. This allows you to use a single BNC coax cable to power and connect a Ethernet POE camera. You only need to supply 24vdc to the near end converter. It also extends the operational distance limitations. very nice

[1.81 lb] I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. It's small but the sound is big. It's perfect for podcasters like myself, interviewing and the sound flexibility is good for vocals including singing. It has the USB option as well as the USB C to USB C charging cable. They really covered all the bases with this one.
