Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: yes it is and this is confirmed on the Nikon USA website as well as in full reviews by Photography Life and DP Review. I live in Ireland where we get more rain than most and in my experience with this lens over the past 12 months I can confirm it has very effective weather sealing. It is very sharp and the addition of VR means this lens can be used in very low light without the need for a tripod. It is also very sharp across all focal lengths.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with a Nikon D500?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the D500.

Q: 3. Will this lens work on a D3300?

A: Yes. The D3300 requires lenses that have an internal focus motor. A Nikon lens that is designated as AF-S will have this motor. This is an AF-S lens.

Q: 4. Where is the lens made as of late-2020?

A: As per our records, this lens is made in Venezuela. Please note that this is subject to change at any time.

Q: 5. Does one need a lens collar for tripod mounting? Thanks

A: No, not in my experience anyway. The lens is on the heavy side, but I haven't had any trouble using it as is on a medium-grade tripod. Just make sure the weight of your camera body and this lens are within the tripod's design specs.

Q: 6. Trying to decide on the Nikon 16-35 f/4 vs the Nikon 17-35 f/2.8. Any thoughts? Pros/Cons?

A: I would recommend 17-35mm f/2.8 . better lens

Q: 7. Will it work with the D7100?

A: Yes it is compatible. There would be a 1.5x crop factor, so the focal length would be 24-52.5mm.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D850?

A: Yes! The D850 has such high resolution that it requires very sharp lenses to get the most from the camera. Many aftermarket lenses (and even a few older Nikkor lenses) are just not sharp enough for the D850. This lens pairs very well with the D850.

Q: 9. Compatible with the D7200?

A: Yes but will be 24-52 lens with crop sensor camera. I have used on D500 in addition to full frame. Love that it accepts a 77mm filter.

Q: 10. Does the 16-35mm lens have the ability to accept a circular polarizing filter?

A: Yes it does. The lens accepts 77mm sized filters. If you regard the Accessories tab on its product link you will see select recommended/compatible options we list there.

[Camouflage] This lens coat works very well with this lens. As others have noted, the window for the switches isn't open, so switching is a little bit of a hassle, but I don't change these settings often, so it's not really been an issue for me. So, it's good protection with the added benefit of camouflage.

[Camouflage] I usually have a lens coat on my super-tele lenses, however I went with this and the XX Large hoodie instead for my new 500mm f4E VR FL. I got tired of the way the lens cost fit on the lens, you either have to remove pieces or deal with it. Lenscoats, especially the new ones cover up too much of the lens, such as function buttons, the five main switches, the drop-in filter holder, the manual focus ring. So I slowly started removing pieces until I had barely any left. So I decided to buy this instead and I really like it, it’s thicker and offers more protection than the regular lens coat. It’s on the lens when the lens is in the bag, either my thinktank Airport Accelerator or long lens bag. It’s easy to remove and put on and it protects the lens from getting banged up or scratched, etc. Once I bring the lens out of the bag and out of this, I put it directly onto my monopod or tripod and I’m careful. So far so good, my lens looks like new almost a year later and I’m no longer messing with the lens coat being in my way. For me this is the best option. Maybe someday they will make lenscoats for actually using your lens, but for now I’ll just use this to protect the lens when it’s not on top of my tripod.

[Camouflage] These LensCoats are a little pricey, but worth every penny. I have them on all my large lenses. Protects the lens and your future re-sell value. Just buy one. You will love it.

[Camouflage] Installs easily and protects against damage when one does not have space for the boxcar-sized Nikon case. Also handy keeping dust and grit from lens in blind situations when changing to smaller lens.

[Camouflage] I've been using the travelCoat on one of my bigger lenses for quite a while now and really like it. This works well for my Z 600mm f/6.3 when i travel. I put the lenscoat hoodie on first, then this travelCoat.

[Camouflage] When I travel, I put this over my lens and pack it in my carry-on/roll-aboard luggage. It works well. I have similar for my larger 500mm f4E lens
