The Kramer Electronics VP-771 Presentation Switcher/Scaler supports a variety of signals. It accepts one of nine inputs: component video, DisplayPort (DP), 3G HD−SDI, two computer graphics, two composite video and two HDMI signals. It scales the video, embeds the audio, and outputs the signal to one HDMI, one computer graphics, one 3G HD−SDI and one DGKat TP, together with digital audio, unbalanced stereo and a 2x10W amplified balanced stereo speaker output.

Q: 1. In our scenario we would want to have 2 input signals and input one would be feeding both outputs and under fault scenario input 2 would go to both outputs. - Also do you have a computer input card to put second signal back into another computer? Thanks Brent

A: This unit should work for you. It has 2 inputs, with one input going to both outputs and the other input on stand-by. If the first input drops, the 2nd input will take over and be sent to both outputs. We have SDI Capture Cards from Magewell as well. Q: 2. to how many participants( guests not hosts) can mirror screen?

A: The Kramer VIA GO2 Compact & Secure 4K Wireless Presentation Device BH #KRVIAGO2 will accommodate two simultaneous presenters on a main display. The number of guest/participants is theoretically as many as desired, limited by the available bandwith only.

Q: 3. Will this auto-switch is one of the inputs is always on (local pc)?

A: The Kramer 2x1 Automatic 4K UHD HDMI Standby Switcher (B&H# KRVS211H2) offers both priority and last connected switching options and automatically switches on that basis. So, if you plug something new into the switcher and put out an HDMI signal from it then it can be set to switch to that new input.

Q: 4. Does this unit handle audio at all?

Q: 5. Does the Kramer Kramer VS-62H support HDCP 2.2? This info in not in the datasheet nor manual.

A: We are afraid not. This only supports HDCP 1.4.

Q: 6. Is this device rack mountable?

A: Yes, the A-Neuvideo ANI-8MFS 8-Input Multi-Format Scaler and Switcher includes rack mounting ears in order to rack mount the device.

A: The Kramer 2x1:2 3G HD-SDI Automatic Standby Switcher has Contact closure or automatic switching.

A: A remote is not included.

Q: 9. I understand the "Mute" button on the front of the unit mutes the audio output. Can this button also be configured to blank the video like the "Blank" button on other models?

A: The mute button on the Kramer VP-550X is not programable to other functions.

Q: 10. Does this unit blank the screen during input switch or is it a smooth cut?

A: There will be a slight delay and a blanks screen when switching between the inputs on this Switcher and Scaler.

[5.5 lb (2.5 kg)] We had much trouble converting our video source and getting the frame rate we needed. The less expensive converters would just not do the trick. Out of the box this worked perfectly and immediately solved our problem. It is a simple device and cicuitboard, but the software on the chip is worth the money if you need it! 5

[7.45 lb] We have an outdoor live location that is transmitted back to our newsroom via fiber circuit. This switcher allows me to keep an HD signal generator (Maxtron) running so the control room can check on the circuit before deploying a crew. When the camera is plugged in it switches to that source automatically and resumes the test signal as soon as the camera is powered off. The unit has been in a weatherproof outdoor enclosure running continuously for two years with no issues so far. 5

[1U rack unit] I'm using the video switcher to capture lectures and classroom sessions when we have 2-4 cameras in use. The switcher is quick, small, and easy to operate. The only downside is that break-before-make (BBM) switching can cause a blink between channel transitions, but it is very short and we can accept this given the price of the product and audience for our videos. 5

[7.45 lb] I received this as a wonderful Christmas gift from my mother, the Kramer VP-770. I am using it to digitize a number of VHS/Beta/Hi-8/and DVD performances from my Alma Mater, as well as from other clients. It has performed superbly. The ability to Time Base Code the squiggly analog tapes and output a clean 720P or 1080P signal, plus being able to align the audio signal, has been a blessing. In the world of digital there are a number of analog items that may be lost. I am grateful that Kramer makes a truly spectacular TBC Switcher/Upscaler to complete the restoration. 5
