Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the aperture ring have click stops?

A: I'm sorry but the aperture ring does not have click stops.

Q: 2. Will this lens work on a Nikon Z7 ?

A: Yes, the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Mark II Lens for Nikon Z would be compatible for use on the Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, do note that the Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a camera with a full-frame sensor, whereas the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Mark II Lens for Nikon Z is designed for Nikon Z-mount cameras that use the smaller APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor. so the lens would be the equivalent of an 82.5mm lens when used on the full-frame sensor in APS-C crop mode. Also note that this is a fully manual lens, so you will have to focus manually as well as set your aperture manually as there is no electronic communication between the camera and the lens.

Q: 3. How smooth is the rotation ring?

A: The rotation ring on this filter moves easily and smoothly--much better than most variable ND filters.

[55 mm] B+W filters are high quality and B&H sells them at reasonable prices. This filter does it's job. Keeping the shutter speed where I need it in the bright sun.

[Aluminum] Great item for the price! Love using this with off camera flash and a great background in my portraits! No color contrasts and easy to use. Wish it had a dial that gave the stop amount instead of little squares. I like how it's made of glass and metal, very sturdy! I would recommend this to anyone!

[Solid ND] Good use outdoor when it is too bright and it helps to enhance colors. Since it reduces 1-stop, I can use wider aperture. I always use B+W filters for my lenses for better optics.

[Multi Coated] I love the quality of hardware for the price I paid. It is glass and metal so I feel confident that it will take a few bumps. Pros: price!!! Durable and easy to slide the dial. Cons: there's really no gauge to tell you how many stops you set it to, just little squares. The filter is not made to take a lens hood so I have to put the hood on first and try to screw the filter on with the tips of my finger. If you set the filter to max, be sure it's not in full sun, you will get dark spots and polar lines. It's probably best to take test shots and keep notes, it helps me when I don't have much time to get the shot! Great buy all around! I would recommend this product to a friend!

[Multi Coated] Congratulations, you've found what you're looking for.

Smooth, de-clicked dial for maximum precision, all metal construction, and built with Min/Max stops to prevent the ugly X a lot of VNDs suffer from. There's also very little (if any) noticeable color shift in the image.

I shot on my Sony a7s classic in the snow on a partly sunny day at ISO 3200 (minimum allowed in video mode) with my 50mm f/1.4 lens wide open and still didn't need to max this filter out. The amount of lighting control this allows for is invaluable. Highly recommended!

[Multi Coated] I did a exterior shooting with a f1.4 at 2pm and believe me, I had amazing shots with this baby. You can have full exposure and the ND filter halfway through. Image resulted like a dynamic range footage!
