The 6' HDMI to VGA Adapter Cable 6ft Plugableconnects an HDMI port on a computer or docking station to a VGA monitor, projector, or other display device. The cable's chipset converts the source's digital HDMI signal to an analog VGA signal for use with business-class or legacy displays. This conversion is performed inline without any external converter boxes or power sources necessary. Please note, most HDMI outputs will provide enough power to run the digital to analog conversion, but some low-power devices may not be compatible with this adapter cable. Furthermore, the VGA connection standard does not support audio; a separate audio cable may be required, available separately.

This cable is compatible with desktop and laptop computers with HDMI outputs. This adapter cable is a one-way adapter from a HDMI source to a VGA display; the adapter will not connect a VGA source to an HDMI display. Please note, VGA does not support audio transmission; only the HDMI video signal will be converted. The maximum supported resolution of this cable is 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. Furthermore, this cable does not support playback of HDCP-protected content such as Blu-ray Discs.

The Plugable HDMI to VGA adapter requires a powered HDMI port to power the digital to analog converter, as well as a display device that outputs valid EDID configuration data for the source device to correctly detect the external display. Due to power requirements, this cable adapter is not recommended for use with Apple computers, Raspberry Pi, Roku, Apple TV, Blu-ray players, DVD players, or gaming consoles.

A: I have been using this switch in one of our conference rooms for almost a year. It has worked flawlessly. Our laptops have both VGA and Displayport outputs. We use a passive cable to convert Displayport to HDMI, the HDMI then goes into the switch. If we need to use the VGA output of the laptop, we connect it to the switch. The switch does the conversion to HDMI. That way we only have to feed our monitor with HDMI. We run a single HDMI to the monitor. If you want to share the HDMI output of a laptop with an HDMI projector and an HDMI monitor, you would need to use an HDMI splitter. You just plug it in to the devices turn them on and it’s that easy. The connection works great. I haven’t had any issues at all. I like that it’s small and compact that I can take it with me easily for traveling. It’s very well-made and the connection is absolutely amazing.. I’ve purchased other adapters before and I had problems with the connection. I had to unplug it and replug it to keep the connection working correctly. This one I’ve had no issues plug it in never once has it caused any issues for me I definitely recommend it. 5
