Designed for broadcast applications, the Stedman Proscreen PS-100 Metal Pop Filter features an advanced design that yields excellent plosive control while maintaining high durability. The Proscreen PS-100 doesn't simply diffuse bursts, it redirects airflow downward, away from the microphone capsule. The filter can be tilted up to 180° for easy placement, and the integrated 5/8" mic stand adapter makes the Proscreen simple to mount. Both the brass mount and filter material are finished in a rugged powder coating to last a lifetime of recording sessions.

The Proscreen PS-100 uses a metal pop filter, rather than the more common fabric material used in many filters. This has the advantage of redirecting airflow downward away from the microphone capsule instead of simply diffusing sound bursts like fabric filters do. Even very close vocal work will not allow popping or plosives (such as P and B sounds) to reach the mic, and the large openings in the metal screen allow vocal sound to pass through unobstructed and uncolored, preserving critical detail.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit a MXL R-40 ribbon mic?

A: It should it's made for all MXL large diaphragm mic's.

Q: 2. Will this fit the Rode PodMic?

A: No it will not fit.

Q: 3. Would you recommend this product for ‘Rode Podmic’?

A: Hello, Thank you for contacting Samson Technologies. This will work with this and most other microphones to assist in smoothing out your voice recordings and removing common plosive sounds! If you have any other questions or inquiries, please let me know at any time. Best Regards, James (Product Specialist)

Q: 4. Does the mounting screw on the 5.5" metal filter have any protection for scratching of the mic stand - as do the other models?

A: The mounting screw for the Auray PFMR Metal Pop Filter with Gooseneck is bare metal.

Q: 5. Can i use this on a Boom arm?

A: It is best to mount it on a straight mic stand. But a well made boom arm with a heavy counterbalance should be able to support this reflection filter.

Q: 6. What are the inside diameter and inside depth?

A: While Rode does not specify these dimensions, we would estimate an inside diameter of around 1.9'' by a depth 3''.

Q: 7. what diameter mic will this fit? Specifically, will it fit on an AT2020usb+?

A: The MXL PF-005-SS is intended for use with the MXL 2001, 2003A and V87 models which have a diameter of approximately 47 to 50mm. The AT2020USB+ has a diameter of 52mm so the PF-005-SS is too small for this microphone. You can use the Auray OMPF-33 On-Microphone Pop Screen (B&H # AUOMPF33) for the AT202USB+. It is designed for use microphones with a diameter of 45 to 65mm.

Q: 8. Will this fit the Blue Yeti microphone?

A: Almost certainly not. My Rode NT2-A microphone (for which I purchased this product) is about 5.5 cm in diameter while the Blue Yeti is about 12 cm (about 4.7 ) in diameter.

Q: 9. would this fit on a blue yeti???

A: This pop filter would work with the Blue Yeti, when the mic is used with a typical mic stand, such as the Auray MS-5230F Tripod Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom, BH #AUMS5230F. When the Blue Yeti is used with it's included tabletop stand, this pop filter will not have anywhere to clamp on, so it is best to use the Blue The Pop - Universal Wire Mesh Windscreen, BH #BLTP.

Q: 10. Will this fit a Tascam TM-80?

A: Yes, the Mackie PF-100 pop screen will fit on a Tascam TM-80 microphone.

[Metal] This unit is the best-bang-for-the-buck metal pop filter.

[Brass, Metal] I bought this to work with another mic but when I switched to the rode Podcaster I thought I would try it with that mic. It works well but an external pop filter isn't necessary with the rode Podcaster.

[Pop Filter] I'm actually amazed at how much of a difference this pop filter made in my voice over recordings. I was having difficulty with popping Ts and hissing on every S and I took off the foam ball that came with my mic and put this filter on, about an inch from the mic, and not only are the popping and hissing completely gone, but without the foam, my voice is much clearer and richer. I'm using a $60 Samson Q2U mic that can be plugged directly into the computer's USB port, so for a little more than $100 I'm getting really professional sound.

[Pop Filter] Reduced pops and breath noise without reducing quality, and is much cheaper than the Steadman equivalent.

[Pop Filter] This filter gets my vote over nylon mesh filters which tend to retain odors and are a pain to clean. This filter can be quickly washed and dried and put back to use right away. I already owned one and just added two more to my equipment.

[Pop Filter] This is my second PFMR pop filter. I bought the exact same model 18+ months ago and have been very happy with it. Only bought the back-up as I'm on the road with my equipment often and I didn't want to run the risk of not having one on hand if something got lost or broken in transit.

[Brass, Metal] The sound was slightly 'cushioned' at the high end by my double-nylon-mesh filter, and it added heft
and leverage to the mounting. This sounds really clean and weighs less. Pop protection isn't as absolute but I just tip the screen 30 degrees off flat-on. Yes, you can read through it. The sharp edges don't bother me...they aren't bad.

[Pop Filter] Good quality. This is exactly what I was looking for.

[Brass, Metal] I had a double-nylon-messh pop filter but I thought I would try a metal mesh. Not quite as protective, but if you tilt the screen 20 degrees off perpendicular, it works great. I did not anticipate the improvement in high frequencies over the nylon mesh...wow! I'm hooked on this. Without a frame it's very light. I dab the edges with a little E6000 and sharp edges are covered. This lit up my voiceovers...who knew?

[Metal] Does what it says it does. I don't find the edges are as sharp as other reviewers, plus the lack of edging makes it easier to see my notes or music.
