[ 3.5" HDD ] looking for an external this is the one to get. this drive is fast and works great on network.

[Yes] This enclosure looks like it's from the 1990s. It's heavy, it's metal, it has a fan AND it has a built-in power supply. It has a power cord, but NO BRICK! There is a second USB-C port to daisy chain more devices.
I have an 8TB Iron Wolf Pro installed and the Tech Tool Pro software is measuring write speed at 345 MB/s, read speed at 278 MB/s. I have not installed an SSD yet, but you can install a 2.5 SSD or HDD in this box. I am very happy with this enclosure at this point. I may have to get another one if this one starts to get lonely.

[ 3.5" HDD ] This hard drive works perfectly, speeds are as advertised, does what it's supposed to! The hard drive housing also allows for daisy chaining to other hard drives with the same housing. I have one more of these so now I can connect the two external HDDs together. A very convenient feature!

Installed an 18 GB spinny drive, plugged it in, and got to work. Love that it comes with a cable, has a power switch, and an internal power supply (no wall wart!). May order another one just to have a spare (because products get discontinued, and I like things to match).


Haven't tried the external USB-C port, but I would daisy-chain a second unit.


Would purchase again.

[Aluminum] I tried several enclosures and I finally think I found a winner. This thing is solid. Really solid and the fan is so quiet I didn't think it worked at first. However you can definitely feel it. Seriously good bye especially when you can switch HDDs out as your needs change for more storage.

[ 3.5" HDD ] I bought this for use with a 22TB HDD that I'd bought to archive a large engineering project I'd recently completed. So far, so good. It's rugged, and the hard drive's temperatures topped out at 40C. It gets along fine with Linux; I saw no errors reported. Performance is on par with what other reviewers have mentioned.

[6 TB] Like many I’ve been searching for a G-Drive replacement. Came to this by way of a recommendation from Mike Bombich, creator of carbon copy cloner. I’ve only had it a couple weeks but it’s probably the quietest HDD I have. It also has no annoying flashing light on the front which I love. Transfer speeds were fast. Hope it lasts and if it does I’m a convert.

[Yes] Love the build, good fan for keeping the temperature down, and activity indicator light is nice and the power light is a nice bright white to let you know it's on. The fan is audible but it's fair considering that you don't feel any heat from the enclosure. I've already copied 8TB's of data on the first day for 10 hours nonstop. No hitching. The extra usb c port on the back to attach an additional hard drive to it is also a nice touch. Currently using it with a Seagate Ironwolf Pro 18TB and works like a charm. Easy setup. Getting consistent 200 MB/s transfer speeds with Fastcopy.

[6 TB] Up front, I've only been using this a few weeks. I cannot speak to longevity - and by the time I could, something new would be out.


Storing TB's of photos, I've used several different drives. The Oyden is by far the fastest at transfer I've used. It's also exceptionally quite. It does get a bit warm, but nothing near hot. Again, much cooler than any past drive.


I use it on-desk and don't carry it around, and backup by doing a full file-copy. (I want better access and portability than a true backup will give me.) The rubber frame around the drive will handle any minor vibration I have, as well as moving it from desk to storage. Overall, a really nice unit.
