Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I ordered this and it was not the Right screw for me what is the right one where I can slide it down a mounting bar after threading it in? Something longer.

A: A shoulder screw seems the appropriate fastener if I understand the situation. These have a threaded portion at the end of the shaft and an unthreaded portion beneath the head. The shoulder is formed at the border between the two portions, the unthreaded area being of greater diameter than the threaded. This shoulder allows the screw to be secured in the camera before it bottoms out in the hole. Please try a search for 'shoulder screws' to understand the variety of configurations or visit a good hardware store. The standard 1/4-20 threading applies.

Q: 2. Do they make these things with threads the whole way up? I just bought a revo skate dolly that has a very similar camera screw, but I can't put a fluid head on it because the whole thing just spins.

A: I am sorry - I have not been able to locate a similar part with continuous threading all the way up to the knob.

Q: 3. Almost ready to buy. Does the D ring fold down flat?

A: Yes it does. Additional info: Depending on how thick your quick release plate is...the non threaded portion may not be long enough to leave threads exposed to screw into your camera base

Q: 4. I have an old 70s Stitz Camera Grip and I broke the screw on the bottom which latches the camera to the bar grip. Is this what I need?

A: I think it will do the job. I got two and used them on different grips and they worked fine.

Q: 5. Is this stainless steel?

A: If I'm not mistaken this screw is nickle plated -- maybe chrome but more likely nickle.

Q: 6. What is the thickness of the plastic knob? I assume that the 11mm spec is the length of the metal screw. I need a spacer to raise a camera a few mm above the tripod mounting plate.

A: 11 mm does refer to screw only. Knob is additional 7-8 mm thick

Q: 7. I was wondering what the outer diameter of the black knob is - I'm looking to design a rig and I want to make sure I don't run into a conflict! Thank you.

A: The outer diameter of the black knob is 1.16 .

Q: 8. how much extra room do i have to add to the edges of the prints so they wrap around the frame. 1.25 to each side?

A: The Hahnemuhle Standard Gallerie Wrap Stretcher Bars (16", 20-Pack) has a depth of 1.25" / 3.2 cm. So one needs at least that amount to wrap around to the back.

Q: 9. Hi All, Can anyone help me. I was wondering if anyone has used this with the MeFOTO PMU50 Quick-Release Plate? Will it work?

A: I bought these because the plates i bought didnt have the fold out ring to grasp to undo. These u dont need a penny to tighten or undo. For me its a no brainer. Extra cost but to me worth it.

Q: 10. Can I use this with the OBEN QR 10 plate?

A: Don't know since I don't have the OBEN QR plate. It fits on an old Manfroto plate, but not on the Markins plates I currently use. Sorry I couldn't help.

[Red] Sturdy, gets the job done. The metal gnarled base is rough on your fingers, but that also means you can get purchase easily.

[0.015 lb] I love these. I've been using these for over a year now and have not had any issues with it. I bought 12 of these and put one on everything I can possibly mount my camera to. Tripods/Monopods, gimbal, camera harness...it makes my workflow so much smoother! It's also kind of like a riser plate which I need for my smallest camera. I use my cameras 3-4 times a week so I do have to re-tighten the screw maybe once a month. But I think that's kind of expected for something this small underneath a heavy camera.
