Q: 4. Is it fairly easy and quick to setup and break down? And once the rods have been removed from the speed ring can they remain attached to the softbox itself for storage? And lastly can the inner and outer diffuser stay attached when stored?

A: Hello Shawn,Yes, it is perhaps the easiest to assemble and breakdown of all Broncolor softboxes. You can leave the rods. I never remove them. I leave the inner diffuser attached; not the outer because it becomes bulkier and more difficult to put inside the bag; however, I have done it when I am in a hurry and it works.

Q: 10. Could someone be so kind to tell me the measures of the black fabric (ideally in cm)? Also does B&H have this kind of fabric? I do not have broncolor mount and would love to do something DIY... thank you!

A: The inner mask area is approx. 90x150cm, with a 15cm border on each side which allows light to pass through. The material is an opque double-layered non-reflective black fabric.

[Hook & Loop] The lighting is incredible. If you get the big 120x180 softbox, this is a must.

[0.35 lb] Look no further this is exactly what you need, no need to buy a different modifier, give this a try!

[Hook & Loop] I was creating the same effect using a 24x36 black flag behind my subject but the alignment was fussy and took some time to set up. This mask makes the back - edge light effect work effortlessly in portrait or landscape orientation.

I did steam the black fabric to reduce the winkles which were sometimes visible when the subject was close to the mask and if the aperture was closed down some. After steaming out the wrinkles during the first use, I rolled the mask around a large diameter cardboard tube for transport and storage to keep the wrinkles down. Easy and effective. Such a beautiful result - especially for subjects with long dark hair that might disappear against a dark background.

[Hook & Loop] Seriously amazing modifier and broncolor quality. Love this. Yeah it's pricey, especially for amateur but if you're pro, this single modifier saves your time and light too.
I actually bought this for $94 here while it was on sale. Together with 120x180 softbox(also discounted).

[Hook & Loop] Works great as a rim light, or a low key headshot. Looks really cool also when moedling light is lit.

[0.35 lb] Much smoother soft light across the entire 5 ft. surface compared to umbrellas with diffusers. Used with Profoto flat front lights, the internal baffle with extra center layer really works great. I leave the internal baffle and front diffuser in place all the time as instructed by Urs Recher from Broncolor to save time with no detriment to performance or longevity. The trick to disassembly for me is to start with speedring side down, diffuse up. Pull back one corner of the diffuser and unhook one inner baffle snap. Then reach in with both hands and push two opposing rods down to the floor to flatten them at the speedring. Then pull apart the flattened rods from the speedring (they separate much easier when horizontal).

The folded Octobox in its case fits nicely in my SKB checked luggage case along with light stands, etc. for air travel. Beside providing beautiful light, the whole system is robust and should last a lifetime.
