The SmallHD 702 Touch 7" Monitor with Bolt 6 Module Kitfeatures an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. The IPS touchscreen provides a wide off-axis viewing experience without a significant shift in color or contrast. The panel also features a maximum brightness of 1500 cd/m², which makes it more than well suited for use outdoors. The panel displays images in 8-bits per color channel, but the monitor's internal processing is 10-bit. The touchscreen capability of the monitor facilitates using the SmallHD OS3 software package that allows you to create looks and save them as pages.

Interchangeable battery plates allow you to use the battery of your choice. However, the monitor ships with a dual L-series battery plate. The 702 Touch incorporates 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, as well as a headphone jack for monitoring audio. It also has a store of monitoring features including waveform, custom LUT support, anamorphic de-squeeze, and audio meters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, can you please confirm that this will work with B&H#TE102101V? I'd like to invest in the 4K60 TX module in hope that a better RX module will be released in the future.

A: Yes, all Teradek Bolt 4K receivers and transmitters are compatible with each other.

Q: 2. Hi. Does it have Komodo functions and menu? Thanks

A: No, it does not. Only the "SmallHD Focus Pro with the Red Komodo Control Kit" can control the Red Komodo

Q: 3. Are there any other methods to power this other than with V-mount? would the DC barrel connector power both the monitor AND RX?

A: Yes, there are DC barrels for powering the SmallHD 702 Touch 7" Monitor with Bolt 6 Monitor Module 750 RX Kit (V-Mount).

Q: 4. RED V RAPTOR Compatible?

A: If you can get an HDMI or 3G-SDI signal to this monitor, it will work.

Q: 5. Is there a good cable to power the monitor through the dc barrel from the 4pin 12V accessory port on the side of an ursa mini pro?

A: The only recommended DC power option for this is the D-tap power cable from smallHD

Q: 6. Would this work with Sony FX3?

A: Yes, the SmallHD 702 Touch 7" Monitor with Bolt 6 Monitor Module 750 RX Kit (V-Mount) could work with most any camera. Please note you will need to add a Teradek transmitter and V-mount battery to power the display, as well as an HDMI cable. Q: 7. Can this input at 24p and output at 60p? What is the latency?

A: Smallhd does not provide display latency. However, This is a professional display with low latency. The SmallHD 702 touch is not a frame rate converter and will output the frame rate that you input.

Q: 8. What’s the weight without battery plate?

A: the weight is 18.9 oz / 536 g

Q: 9. How does the 702 touch compare to the 702 OLED?

A: The 702 Touch is brighter making it much easier to see in daylight. (1500 nits vs 300) however the OLED technology in the 702 manages Black Levels better than the 702 Touch. Overall I recommend the 702 touch over the OLED as additional brightness makes it far more practical than the OLED when working outside or in bright environments.

Q: 10. Is it possible to program this with a Bolt 500 system?

A: No it is not. It is only compatible with the 4K bolt products.

[IPS-Type LCD] I've owned a 701 lite and 702 bright. They don't come even close to the 702 Touch. So I think the 702 name is misleading. They put everything you need in this and it's bright enough for shooting in daylight. This is definitely worth the investment.

[322 ppi] I love this external monitor. The color is beautiful. High quality image that's very close to my 1DX Mkiii. You can add luts to it through the included 8 gb SD on the top. And comes with clear screen protector.

You can change screens by sweeping or add them by pinching out (which I had to experiment to find out) Each screen can be a different preset or you can add different settings to each screen. And the touch functions are very responsive.

After using this a few times, I can see why it's so expensive. It's like an iPad in functionality and external monitor in process.

Has screw holes on the sides, bottom and back, but no top. But the screen can auto rotate if you want it upside down from the bottom screw.

Uses two L batteries. One L lasts awhile.

The one and only thing I would comment as being negative, this thing gets hot! Like a few degrees from being untouchable. Imagine being outside or on set without airflow, I don't understand how this thing doesn't catch fire.

I love this thing. It's a great companion to my 1dx mkiii. I can't wait to use it more. I've made a few mistakes in the past which having a bigger screen will help with. Always improving. This is a good step forward.

[322 ppi] I also own an Atomos Shogun 7. I needed a second camera monitor and decided to pull the trigger. What a nice monitor. Light, small border, love the OS and the swipe pages. Overall this is a great monitor.

[Yes] everything works just like a702 bright but this monitor is a bit more robust. its 500nit brighter than my old 702. don't have to use a dummy battery anymore. just plug in the barrel power cable and go. this is my second monitor. upgraded to a 702 touch as my main camera monitor and liked it so much that i bout it as my second monitor for a directors cage with a teradek. its sharp and bright. ran it for 12hour and never shut it off all day shoot and it was warm out with no problems. th monitor does get warm but nothing extreme. still waiting to use it mid summer in the heat. but until then this is my favorite monitor under $1500.

[Yes] SmallHD knocked it out of the park with this monitor. It is pricey, but it is well worth it if you are paid for your work.

My 701 lite died last Summer on a hot day of shooting. SmallHD discontinued it, so there were no more options for repair. They did offer a credit for the old monitor.

I wasn't trying to invest too much equipment at the time as I had invested a lot in the previous year. However, a monitor is so crucial to my work.

The monitor went on sale for around $1200, and I decided to bite the bullet. It was one of the best decisions I made last year.

It is packaged well and includes a premium glass screen protector and a cleaning cloth. The PageOS software is so intuitive to use. The monitor comes calibrated and matches exactly what you see when you pass your footage to an editor or edit your work. There's nothing like knowing you got your shot before ending the shoot.

The monitor is also very light. It has a unibody aluminum chassis, which means you can attach it to pretty much any camera.

You can't beat this monitor for the value

[Yes] Bright enough for outdoor use, beautiful image, fantastic assist features (I love the pages interface) SDI and HDMI passthrough, tons of accessories...hard to beat! It is kinda pricey, but it's so versatile and I use it on every single production, both as an on-camera monitor and as a director's monitor.

[16:10] Yeah, this monitor is not cheap as all SmallHD products, but it’s worth the money if you are in a state of your career needing something reliable and for “pro” film sets as a DoP or 1st AC pulling focus. PageOS is the best software a monitor can have for customize the experience based on focus only on what I need on set a the time and also the possibility to create multiple pages for different film scenarios from framing to exposure. Also the possibility of making profiles and save up to an SD card, loading into another monitors from rental houses is a great bonus. Finally I can say the panel is bright but also most important, super sharp compared to a lot of monitors on the market. I would say I can pull focus with this monitor without any focus assist or peaking sometimes because of the sharpness but the tools for focus pulling are the best. People on set always love see the image from this screen and obviously from another SmallHD monitor.
