Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What gauge wire?

A: 18 gauge

Q: 2. Is it powered or does it require an external amp?

A: This unit is not powered. It is a passive split. No external amplifier necessary. Send your signal IN and enjoy the 8 individual OUTs

Q: 3. Is this not compatible with the Canon 6D?

A: The LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N is compatible with the Canon 6D.

Q: 4. Is there a tdiblox in reverse, that would let me send from an XLR output to an RCA input?

A: That I don't know. U might want to ck with the manufacturer for that info.

Q: 5. compatible with Canon C100 MKII?

A: The C100 MKII does have a 3.5mm audio input so this attenuator should work on it. Not sure if the C100 has mic-level impedance on that jack or not. It likely does.

Q: 6. My setup would be to use the 90 degree end into the camera which appears to be the reverse of the labels. Would that work? What impact would this have?

A: This attenuating cable will only work if connected into the right side as the label indicates, it will does not work the reverse way.

Q: 7. I this item PoE capable?

A: The Pearstone Ethernet Female to Female Inline Coupler does not support POE.

Q: 8. Is this Pearstone A-RJ45FF used for joining or connecting CAT6 cables?

A: Yes, the Pearstone Ethernet Female to Female Inline Coupler BH #PEARJ45FF is designed to do that.

Q: 9. I need to use a dB meter while attached to something like a selfie stick. Can I turn it on, and the hold the unit about 4 feet away from me and still have it get a reading, without constantly pressing down on a button?

A: This unit would not be appropriate for your requirements, because it is made to go into a rack with a sound system, and runs off of AC power. I would consider a portable dB meter, such as the Galaxy Audio CM-130 CHECK MATE - Battery Operated SPL Meter, BH #GACM130.

Q: 10. What does the 40 dB Pad option mean?

A: The built-in pad on the Remote Audio Unbalanced Adapter Cable 3.5mm RA TS Jack to 3-Pin XLR Male with 40 dB Pad reduces the level of the output signal from the device it is connected to by 40 dB. This is often used when connecting a device with line level output signal to a microphone input on a camera or recorder.

[-40 dB] I'm using this with a cheap Hosa Y cable to get 20dB lower safety track in unpredictable situations (poor man's Zaxcom neverclip!). Pros use proper mic splitter (like MS-1) with isolation transformer to avoid impedance related problems. But I'm only a hobbyist, and I could not detect any degradation when using the setup with my Rode NT55 & MixPre-D. (I disable phantom power on the padded channel.) Although the construction of the pad looks solid,XLR contacts are nickel coated cheap springy types found in Hosa cables.

[Attenuator/Pad] I for one like to see what I buy hands on, not only on-line.  Until now there were other brick & mortar sources in NYC.  Now B&H is one of the only such sources available, and their products are generally more reliable than others.  I have had success purchasing photographic as well as electronic products at B&H.  If I rate them 5 Stars. I would prefer to go through B&H on-line than other on-line sources.

[1] JSYK: anyone can make one of these cables themselves: it's just a regular 1/8 male to male stereo cable with a resister soldered in-line. But I hate getting messy, so if you're like me then you will appreciate the convenience of this cable. It is well constructed and labelled appropriately to let you know which end to stick where. The cable could be a tad longer, but it's meant to be short as it connects a mounted recording device to your dSLR, a situation where you really don't want long cables. Anyway, if you don't feel like making one yourself, then this is a fine purchase.

[0.2 lb] I used this to connect my tone generator (RJ11) to a Data line (RJ45) in order to find the end of the cable in the Data Room. This transferred tone between the different style cable plugs and I was able to find the tone easily. I now carry it in my tool bag all the time.

[1] This xlr cable is one of the best, fits right into the microphone equipment and phantom power with ease. If there is any possible hint of buzzing Than it can hardly be heard in the audio yield. Really happy with this high quality cable so would highly suggest it.

[-40 dB] One of our old Horizon DI boxes died of a transformer. This one cost half as much.

[1] No need for an expensive DI. This one does the trick. We always have a handful of these at the ready when we're on the road with various bands.

[-40 dB] This is a well built coupler that lets you put two ethernet cables together for a longer cord run. very simple to use and does the job.
I like to keep at least one on hand.

[1] Use this cord to connect your recorder (Zoom H4N is a great option) to your camera for easy and clear on board recording.
