It features a cardioid polar pattern, bass roll-off and midrange emphasis (presence boost) controls, and shielding against broadband interference. Internal air-suspension shock isolation helps to eliminate mechanical noise transmission, and a yoke mount facilitates mounting and provides precise control of the mic position.

[Mono] This microphone is an unstoppable force. Anything you throw at it, it can handle with ease and make it sound incredible. I upgraded to this from an AT2020 looking for a richer sound and just overall better build quality/ mic angles, and I could not be happier. I definitely do suggest a Cloudlifter or Fethead, as this mic needs some serious preamp to reduce noise floor. Outside of that though, this mic is a masterpiece and is second to none. 5

[Mono] Great mic! Needs a fair amount of gain, but as long as you know that going in, it really does a wonderful job. (If you have a 2i2 or something, you might want a passive gain stage.) The arm is pretty good too! Nice and sturdy. 5

[2.81 lb] My wife is a DJ at a local community radio station, where they use this mic in the broadcast booth. When the pandemic forced everyone out of the station she started recording her weekly show from home, using an Audio Technica 4050-CM5. While that is an excellent general-use mic, it was lacking the low-end warmth she was accustomed to hearing on her talk breaks. This mic was designed from the ground up to be used for the human voice in close proximity and it does the job like no other. The one caveat is that, like any piece of professional gear, it requires a high-quality mic preamp. I use an FMR Audio Real Nice Preamp (RNP), and the results are professional-quality talk breaks. 5

[Red] I'm a voice over actor and was previously using a usb condenser microphone for at home recording. I don't have the best sound proofing so decided to pick up a Dynamic mic and the Shure SM7B was the most recommended. [Cardioid] I recently started a podcast and purchased another SM7B for guests. It doesn't pick up much background noise, and if guests aren't right on the mic, it still provides a great sound. It doesn't distort when someone yells or laughs loudly directly into the mic, and it looks great in the studio. I'm not a professional broadcaster or sound engineer, but this mic makes it sound like I am. 5

A: The Shure SM7B is very low in natural since its a dynamic mic it needs alot of gain from your M BOX asnd doing so will introduce hiss from the M BOX bringing noise level up. The best we can advice is to get a cloud lifter and this will eliminate and hiss giving you a 25db of a boost.

A: The DB range looks good on paper but you're going to be maxed out and get a quiet level that will make buying such a nice mic pointless. You'll need a pre-amp like a Cloudlifter or a Triton Audio Fethead in-line preamp (the cheaper option). Do NOT use phantom power on the Shure SM7B unless you want to ruin it. I use my Shure SM7B in my home studio with a DBX 286s preamp/processor. It's about $200 but it makes my audio national broadcast quality.
