This Dual Studio 4K.SH NDI Converter Kit with 12G-SDI Fiber SFPfrom Dual Studio 4K.SH NDI Converter Kit with 12G-SDI Fiber SFPwith both 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs can encode or decode full NDI video up to 2160p60. Built-in optical transceivers send and receive signals up to 12 miles. A large, matte tally light on the side of the device makes it ideal for use in live production environment. The design of the device features a 1.3" OLED display screen, which shows the unit's working status and parameters as well as input and output in real time.

The device has a USB-A port for integration of PTZ cameras into the system. PTZ cameras can then receive commands over NDI, even if the camera itself is not NDI compatible. A 3.5mm stereo audio line-level input and headphone output are integrated into the back of the device for audio monitoring. Power can be received by the device either through the RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet input or the DC connection with the included 12 VDC power supply.

A: It does not. I used a 10Gtek SFP-10G-LR With SMF and it works great.

Q: 4. Does this support tally data?

A: Yes, it does. The tally, signal will come in the return feed from an Atem Switcher to any number of Black Magic Cameras & Studio Viewfinders. The Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G, will pass the signals: Both SDI to optical and optical to SDI. It will pass the Tally information that is embedded in that signal, that comes from an Atem switcher passes through the Mini Converter Optical Fiber and then to a supported Blackmagic Camera. ( URSA Broadcast/ URSA Mini Pro / Studio Cameras / Pocket Cinema Cameras).

Q: 5. could one of the channels carry reference/genlock?

A: No only digital SDI Video signals. Reference is an analog signal.

Q: 6. How long of a run can this handle?

A: Depending on what type of fiber cable you are using, distances can be hundreds of feet to many miles.

Q: 7. Will this work with Multi Mode fiber? Has anyone tried?

A: I have not tried this, but the adapter does not come with a SFP module so it would be worth a try. They recommend SMF because it loses less than MMF. I used 10Gtek 10G-SFP-LR modules and they work great. Blackmagic says it works with any SFP modules so I imagine it will work with MMF but no guarantees.

Q: 8. Can this run off a battery?

A: Yes. Comes with an AC to 12V DC power supply so you can run on 12V DC if you do not have reason to use any other voltage within the specified 6-36V DC. Just be careful not to mix the polarity, I am not sure its reverse polarity protected.

Q: 9. Is there an SFP for this that can do Multimode om3 fiber?

[1.505 lb] This is currently the lowest price 12G SDI Video SFP. Used in BlackmagicDesign's Optical fiber 12G. Combined with ARIB or SMPTE camera cable, CAM and RET transmission equipment can be made. Excellent! 5

[1.505 lb] Running Sony PXW-Z280 and FX6 generated 12G signals over fiber with these SFPs in Blackmagic 12G Optical Fiber adapters, and all works flawlessly. These finally give us live switched 4k shows, all the way to the stream (via an ATEM Television Studio Pro 4k, which is another amazing product). The cable is UTP single mode fiber, generally between 500 and 650 feet depending on the spool, although I'm sure a longer cable would work up to spec distances. These are a bargain compared to the equivalent BMD versions, and I'm very happy to have found them. 5

[1.505 lb] We got these as we were in a pinch. Set multiple to remote stages for our biggest festival. No it does not come with sfp's, but that allows you to decide what signal you need 3G/ 6G/ 12G and spend accordingly. Locking ps is a appreciated feature. Have performed flawlessly having traveled the country to various music events. These units are perfect for FOH positions as you can send video to DLX/ Servers and get a server feed or spy cam back. 5

[Device: 18 W] The device is improved in a number of ways over the previous generation. It's smaller, feels stronger, and has a threaded locking power supply port. It is a little awkward that you have to add your own SFP module, which is not exactly immediately clear, but it does keep the cost quite low for anyone needing only 1080 resolution. The 12G stuff makes this product more expensive than its 4k predecessor, so that's a drawback. But, having bi-directional function on these is a lifesaver in all sorts of situations - not the least of which is sending a confidence monitor signal to any given camera position, which really helps in engineering live events. 5
