The Kramer 614R/T 1-Fiber Detachable DVI Optical Transmitter & Receiver are a small and lightweight, detachable optical transmitter and receiver pair. They transmit uncompressed DVI resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz using a multimode fiber optic cable with SC connectors. The 614T converts a DVI signal to an optical signal and transmits it to the 614R. The 614R decodes the optical signals back to a DVI signal.

This transmitter & receiver pair is found in digital flat panel and plasma displays that are used in medical, commercial, and travel applications, conference rooms and auditoriums, kiosks with digital flat panel displays for presenting information, and LED signboards in streets and stadiums.

A: In theory, until you run into a device that no longer meets the HDCP negotiation or until you run out of keys to negotiate. That said, there is a limit to how much distance you'll get on a particular type of cable. For the most distance, you need shielded cat6 or better.

Q: 2. Will this work with another brand of transmitter? In other words, are there different protocols or a standard one for converting signals?

A: Sorry, but the Kramer HDMI over Twisted Pair Receiver B&H # KRPT572P can only be used with a dkgat product like the VM-114H4C, VM-1H4C or pt-571.

Q: 3. Can this plug directly into my Verizon cable box, or do I need to also purchase a receiver?

A: It is designed to be used with a separate repeater, like this: Kramer PT-5T and PT-5R IR Extender & Repeater B&H # KRPT5RT MFR # PT-5R/T.

Q: 4. I want to use old apple cinema 20 monitor as a preview monitor for Roland V-1HD Portable 4 x HDMI Input Switchercan I use this adapter, will it work with Roland preview hdmi out to apple cinema dvi cable?Thanks

A: My uses one for her Dell laptop to my Old Cinema Display 20 it works pretty well.

A: Yes, this item will support 60Hz at 1080P

Q: 6. Does this support 1920x1200?

A: Yes, the Kramer HDMI over Twisted Pair Receiver supports 1920x1200.

Q: 7. Will this work for above 60hz?

A: Unfortunately, Kramer has not specified a maximum frame rate for the Kramer DisplayPort Male to DVI-D Male Cable (6').

Q: 8. Does the transmitter send a standard fiber based DVI-D signal that is compatible with other receivers or monitors that have fiber inputs?

A: Link Bridge also offers the 4802 Two-Fiber Optical DVI Receiver to pair with the Transmitter. Once you have both the transmitter and receiver you will be able to send an DVI signal over Fiber.

Q: 9. Picture shows a female HDMI and male DVI-D connector - opposite of the description?

A: Male DVI - D connector to female HDMI that is what I got and what description says.

Q: 10. Can you use this to make dual monitors?

A: That is exactly what I used it for. I'm running a 20 Apple Cinema Display from my 15 Mac Pro. From same I'm also running an EIZO monitor with HDMI. So I can use all 3 screens at one time.

I bought this to connect my aging Samsung monitor, which only has DVI and VGA inputs, to my new computer which only has DisplayPort and HDMI outputs. Since the monitor doesn't have a sound system in it, DisplayPort is the natural choice, and I use the HDMI of for my pen tablet. Cable works flawlessly with no problems in picture quality and has plenty of length to be able to stow the computer out of the way. It feels durable enough to last many years. 5
