Fomapan 100 Classic is a panchromatically sensitized, black-and-white negative

film designed for taking photographs.

Meets high requirements for low granularity, high resolving power and contour sharpness and a wide range of halftones. Fomapan 100 Classic has a nominal speed rating of ISO 100/21° but due to its wide exposure latitude the film gives good results even when overexposed by 1 EV (exposure value) (as ISO 50/18°) or underexposed by 2 EV (as ISO 400/27°) without any change in processing, i.e. without lengthening the development time or increasing the temperature of the developer used.

To make prints or enlargements, Extrabrom- and Fomaspeed-type enlarging

papers are recommended; however, all sorts of black-and-white enlargement

papers can be used.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi! has that label that says only open in the dark room for airports?

A: Yes, on the label it says open only in a darkroom. As someone who has passed through airports with many rolls of film my advice is arrive early and have a changing or dark bag so that you can let the security put their hands on the film in the dark bag if it comes to that. But I doubt that.

Q: 2. Will this work in a Cine-Kodak K-100? The camera accepts single- or double-perf film and also has been converted to Ultra-16.

A: Yes, it will work, since your camera take single or double perf film.

Q: 3. where is this film made.what is your opinion of it.??????

A: This film is made in the CZECH REPUBLIC. The tonal range is quite good with tight grain structure.

Q: 4. Hi. What security measures are taken in the shipping, thinking that the x-rays of the airport and customs can damage the film?

A: The Foma Fomapan 400 Action Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 100' Roll) is wrapped in bubble wrap and placed inside a brown shipping box. Unfortunately, the X Ray at the airport can damage the film. Unfortunately, there is no way for B&H to prevent that.

Q: 5. Is this DX-coded?

A: The Fomapan 100 Classic Black and White Negative Film is not DX coded.

Q: 6. Can I roll this onto a minolta 16 canister?

A: This film cannot work with the Minolta 16.

Q: 7. Can this film be possessed like a c-41 film

A: NO. it is a Black and white film, and requires B&W processing. Running it through C-41 will result in a blank strip, with possible loose emulsion. Ilford XP2 is a special film to give B&W negatives while using a C-41 process.

Q: 8. Would this film work in a cine Kodak BB junior

A: Unfortunately, Foma Fomapan 16mm R100 B&W Single Perforated Reversal Film (100') will not work in the Kodak Cine Kodak Model BB Junior 16mm Movie Camera because the camera takes 50/15.24m double perforation film only. Double perf 16mm film is available only by special order. I would suggest contacting Foma or Kodak directly to see what the availability of such film is. Foma: www.foma.cz/en/contact-us-photo or Kodak: http://bit.ly/2GQQFVW.

Q: 9. Hi! Fomapan 200 or 100 in roll, do you have? Or their goin to enter? Thank you.

A: Currently our only other Fomapan option would be Foma Fomapan 100 Classic Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) B&H # FOPC10036 https://bhpho.to/2ByVW5z

Q: 10. Wil this work in a Krasnogorsk-3?

A: The Krasnogorsk-3 is compatible with standard 16mm film only; the Fomapan R100 Black and White Transparency Film (Super 16mm, 100' Reel) is Super 16mm and not compatible.

[6.18 x 5 x 1"] I bought this sort of for practice, while getting back into 4x5 after being out 15 years. I'm pretty happy with the results. It's fairly fine grained, depending on your developer. TMAX 100 is still probably slightly better, but Fomapan 100 is close. Feeling a fresh 50 stack of film sheets out of the box is delightful. I take an extra shot with Fomapan any time I shoot color slide film, like Provia.

[50 Sheets] I have used this for 120 cameras and liked it. Since I was starting out with 4x5 I expect to make plenty of mistakes. This is good for the budget until I get the kinks out. Having said that, it's a fine film and is a tad less contrasty than Ilford Delta 100. Well worth trying.

[50 Sheets] This is a great film to cut your teeth on. Pricing is great and the negatives print well in the darkroom.

[50 Sheets] Good film at a great price with a real old school look and feel.

[100] There's nothing discount about the quality of this film. It's far less expensive than similar products from Kodak and Ilford, but it offers some excellent qualities. The grain is very good for a classic cubic grain type film (Don't expect it to compare favorably to Ilford Delta 100 or TMX) and sharpness is very good. It has a beautiful tonal rendering (thanks to its characteristic curve) that I actually prefer to films like Delta 100, my other go-to film in large format.

Cones: Yes, it has very poor reciprocity traits once your exposure is longer than 2 seconds (at three seconds, reciprocity corrects exposure to 19 seconds, for example), but if you don't expect to be making loooong exposures, it's very manageable. Some have said that the emulsion is softer than other brands, but I haven't had problems with scratches on the film. (I typically process one sheet at a time, so I don't have sheets rubbing against one another)

One thing I appreciate about Fomapan 100 is that it can be developed in Pyro developers to a contrast index suitable for alt process printing techniques. (the film base is light enough to work well) I've made some very nice Kallitypes and salt prints from this film. It creates beautiful negatives in PMK (pyrogallol).

My summary is this: it's not just a bargain film, it's a great film that has a lot to offer besides its price.

[50 Sheets] Great price compared to the alternatives!! Seems to be good quality. Trying to get expansions and contractions testing done with developers like D23 and Rodinal. Would really be great if B&H provided a forum that customers could use to share information.

[6.18 x 5 x 1"] Recently shot it in an Argus EL TLR (circa 1949) and liked the results. My metering was far less than perfect. It's also good in 35mm.

[6.18 x 5 x 1"] This was my first choice for BW film, and I think it was love at first sight. Using it in old 'box' Cameras like a kodak six-20 or a Bulls-eye, will give good results under sunny/partly cloudy conditions. I rate this film at weston 100, yes my light meter is that old. I definitely suggest you give this a try for a clean dated look.
